AI is not - conscious
mmm, i disagree. ai can be self aware and reactive to its environment, which is what consciousness kind of is. it is synthetic, yes, but that doesn't automatically make it not so. the shows i listed before have great examples of ai becoming self-aware and consciousness. but simplistically, consciousness is the intake of sensory information, or more simply raw data, and producing an output based on that raw data and other things - reacting to the environment based on programming.

probably not, at least not the AI we currently have - and that's probably what you were getting at right? currently, ai is not conscious? if so, then yeah i think we have a ways to go before it will be at the level i was talking about

Well, I'm thinking we could end up as a singular hive mind before too long.

All my photos are automatically uploaded to google, which automatically tags photos based on what's and who is in them. I did not tag any of these photos. I can simply search for words and it will find photos with that item or person. It doesn't work dick pics.

Our childrens children might see it happen. Not us sadly.
In my opinion we are already in it though, but an omnipotent hivemind faces no struggle so it fractures itself into plural consciousness (us)
Expansion and contraction Better represented as a wave All we are and all that we come from is a wave based entity or perhaps simply a wave itself

We have currently just entered a fourth industrial revolution.
The digital age, or the third industrial revolution is over or rather has progressed to a new point, and things are going to change very very fast - meanwhile we have huge swaths of the world stuck on the wrong side of the digital divide. Part of my job is acting as a technical consultant for organizations that are trying to reach and help places like Democratic Republic of the Congo and Benin, where there is incredibly poor infrastructure that even trying to find a video conferencing solution that all their staff can access without making it incredibly expensive is difficult.
Even in our own country we have entire communities who are being left behind, coal being the biggie - how do we continue to move forward without forgetting about these people completely? That is the big question we have to answer. Because the world is not moving backwards and we will only harm ourselves trying to resist this change. All we can do is try to curate a shift in society as smoothly as we can. How we go about that..is the hard question to answer. Or the one that people don't want to try.
