Hey everyone.
First off ill give a backstory,
I have spent 6 months of this year living in the amazon with a shaman drinking ayahuasca. For several interlinking reasons i wont be able to return to study further for some time. I have since come home, after focusing very hard on self exploration through the spirit realm and am once again looking for my uplink to that place we are all looking for. I am torn between schools of thought and have decided that for the time being i dont want to practice with psilocybin without a teachet with some lineage or heritage.
So, has anyone actually been to a legitimate shaman? Its much more difficult reaching out for one than it is for ayahuasca because of the current state of ayahuasca tourism. I have read about a place in Oaxaca mexico, huatula where a shaman (maria sabina) became famous... thinking that it might be the first place to look.
Any advice or suggestions is useful! Really appreciate your time guys and girls Xx
NB I was very lucky where i ended up in peru, if you are considering going to drink ayahuasca make sure you do the proper research on the retreat and the shaman. The tourism industry there booms from uneducated individuals heading over there with the right intentions and at the end of the day ayahuasca is a very potent medicine which can cause great harm if used in the wrong setting lead by the wrong practicioner. I am happy to explain more for anyone interested!!
Thanks again

I personally believe mushrooms are a self exploration journey all on their own, though you never quite make it "there." I believe we are the captains of our own vessels. We are the only ones who can come upon the revelations you seek. You are the Shaman is my advice.
I'd suggest exploring your mind "sober" before delving into mushrooms deeply like that. With or without sitters or teachers mushrooms can get very nasty, very quick. Not sure about your experience with meditation and even yoga, but those things helped me immensely when I was experimenting with psychedelics, specifically mushrooms.
I've found mushrooms to be much more controlling than any other substance. They don't like it when you resist, but you can break through. Other than the substances breaking you through themselves, deep meditation is the only thing I've found that allows this. I would do yoga for about 30-60 minutes before I took them and either continue with yoga until the come up subsided or I would go straight into meditation after I took them.
Conquering the ego is a tough thing. Very paradoxical. In the end you feel like you're surrendering everything about you, but you're not. Mostly all the bad things about you, and get a little more wise for the wear and tear you went through. If you ever see someone whose pupils are constantly dilated or constantly pinpoint... know that they are the real Teachers. Approach them humbly and they won't turn you away.
As with everyone, your path is yours to walk. Many people around the world are "waking up." Some are doing it with psychedelics. Some are doing it with their belief in God. There is no right or wrong in this arena. Me? I like the Way of Jesus Christ. His Way paves my path to self realization. I am told I will understand the roots one way or another, and understanding the rest is up to me.
