Why is human kind the most evolved species on earth today? Is it just so obvious it's us? Fuck alien

we technically aren't the most evolved, just the most intelligent. There are many species which have actually undergone much more specialization and stages of evolution, like rice interestingly enough.

Because we systematically dominated, raped, and murdered the Neanderthals. Then we dominated and domesticated everything else.
If that doesn't say something about human instinct, I don't know what does.

Like mantis shrimp, can see like 13 base colors where humans only see around 5.
On another note, I think that mother nature understands that it's planet(Earth) is not going to last forever, so it dubbed a species to carry her to new places. A space shuttle launch is like a spore, a hard sealed unit with life inside, venturing out to find a new place to colonize. Wherever a human would go they would have to bring all sorts of plants and organisms with them.
That's just what the mushrooms tell me when I eat them, she says that everything is on course, and that the struggles of today are preparing her for tomorrow. All the violence and atrocious acts we've done, were necessary and that her plan was calculated.
Or in the words of McKenna: "This is what it's like when a species prepares to depart for the stars. You don't depart for the stars under calm and orderly conditions; it's a fire in a madhouse, and that's what we have, the fire in the madhouse at the end of time. This is what it's like when a species prepares to move on to the next dimension. The entire destiny of all life on the planet is tied up in this; we are not acting for ourselves, or from ourselves; we happen to be the point species on a transformation that will affect every living organism on this planet at its conclusion."

Because we have thumbs and a larynx that allows us to use language. If other apes were able to speak and pass on knowledge down for generations, I bet they'd be on top.

Yep. I guess we are all just rapers after all.

Do ya'll think we can destroy the planet to the point of destroying our atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere 100%? Or just the sentient and conscious species such as ourselves and maybe rice?
Please forgive me if I've spelt those wrong or wrote those "sphere words" in the wrong order.

I am not sure we are the most intelligent. We communicate more complicated expressions and are intelligent with tools. If existence was certain to be going somewhere. The end result of existence should indicate what species has it right.

well, we can look at the genes of an organism and determine how much specialization it has undergone, therefore how many evolutionary stages preceded it. We humans are the smartest and have the most individual agency of any organisms we know of, but we aren't the most evolved, as evolution isn't a race to sentience, the fact most things aren't sentient seems to imply it's quite a niche ability even that's just not needed for most beings to survive and spread their genes.

Just pulled that off Google but It makes sense, that brain gene in combination with thumbs, limbs, bi-pedalism is what allowed for this insanely complex species to develop.

Those Prarie dogs kind of behave more sophisticated then we do.
There is a part of me that thinks animals have a consciousness. Not just a linear mind.
I'm not sure how to put it. Not the brightest monkey in the bunch...

animals do have consciousness, the question is are they sentient? I think some are probably, just to a lesser degree than humans

I agree. Consciousness expresses depending on which instrument it's expressing through, in a human it's human consciousness, in a donkey it's donkey consciousness, in a butterfly, etc, but consciousness is none of these things. In the same way that electricity will express as wind in a fan, cold in a fridge, heat in a heater, but electricity is none of these things.

I'd say birds and mammals are sentient. No reason to think otherwise (in my mind at least).
They have a smaller capacity for reason than humans. But based off behavior alone, I'd say sentience itself is as plausible as a fellow human having sentience despite not knowing from a first hand perspective that they do otherwise. I say birds and mammals for sure because they demonstrate social behavior and have more complex mating habits than other animals, but I don't see why amphibians, frogs and reptiles wouldn't either. I just say birds and mammals for sure.
At least, I'm as sure that they do as I am that fellow humans do.
Sentience is not necessarily reason though. When it comes to complex reasoning, I'd say humans have a clear advantage. The ability to form words inside your head may assist with that to a large extent. Cetaceans show advanced communicative skills as well though, and might have more sophisticated languages than humans do naturally (not counting the written word and our use of images and phones, talking purely of phonetics).

Actually it was the Cro-Magnon Man that wiped out the Neanderthals. Even though the Neanderthals were quite a bit larger and a lot stronger, Cro-Magnon beat them with their higher intelligence and weaponry.
A theme that continued until Homo Sapiens were the dominant species.

I expect more things are sentient than we might think, probably including most birds and all mammals, and as you say maybe amphibians and reptiles and fish
the stuff I wonder about are plants and fungi, since the notion they might be conscious is gaining ground, one wonders just how conscious they might be
