About to roll dunked cakes

Hey everyone,
I'm about to roll my cakes and put them in my sgfc and I have a question in regards to this next step.
The past 2 times I've birthed cakes, I've ended up not yielding any fruits. The cakes ended up being very dry and turning gray/moldy.
I dumped that sgfc just in case that was the problem and have a new one exactly as it should be in regards to hole size and distance.
For fanning, the past 2 times I think I overdid it but I would please like someone to confirm that my technique was wrong. I was fanning really close to the cakes and for a period of 30-60 seconds everytime I fanned them.
This time around, should I be fanning the cakes for a shorter duration each time and should I hover the fan over the chamber and not so close to the cakes?

If your SGFC is built to spec, fanning really isn't even necessary but if you do just a few swipes of the lid AFTER misting to kickstart the evaporation process. For best conditions mist cakes directly as needed not on a schedule until covered in fine beads of moisture, repeat as soon as they have evaporated. Use a flashlight or lamp to better see the fine beads.
Fanning definitely dosen't hurt and is beneficial unless you're way over doing it but that's why I don't bring it up to ppl starting out, just something else to confuse them and your grow will do fine without it.. A SGFC creates its own air currents and will exchange the air on its own, focus more on surface conditions and if you do fan that's fine but just a few swipes after misting is all you need.

Fanning isn't needed in a properly made SGFC. People have said over and over again that fanning helps to kick-start evaporation. While true, it is not necessary to kick-start evaporation, usually.
People also have said it clears out the old stale air. However, a properly made SGFC doesn't get stale air because of the constant FAE.
If you need to mist about 3-5 times a day, then you likely have it dialed in right and don't need to fan. Over-fanning can dry the cakes and perlite out faster resulting in lower FAE and dry cakes.
I just thought I'd pop in for a minute. I may or may not be back for awhile.
