I'm with you, so glad my state has medical at the minimum, recreational would be awesome.
I confess that I used to turn off my a/c and heat when working in the sab but I have finally found the right place for it and haven't had any more problems. Now, I can only blame my technique or sterilization.

I confess: with the sky high prices and plain lack of availability, I have been working my SAB without gloves
Comforted by the many posts I have seen about hand placement and precise movements being paramount to success. I have to admit I feel a little dirty doin so

I confess I pulled together all my left over coir and grain scraps and whipped up mudda bottles. I've been cooking about 30 qts of grain to prepare for a giant knock up session. I'm almost more excited for these 5 shitty muda bottles than the whole spawn run. The nostalgia is real.
For those that are wondering it's 1/4 oats 1/4 brf 1/2 coir. My bed and coir were over field so I threw in some dry oats to suck up the moisture. Worked about perfect.

lol hell yeah!
I confess I didn’t set my SAB station up right the other day and kept catching myself resting my wrists/forearm on the armholes.
So dumb. It’s looking like around 70% contam rate on the plates so far lol. Gonna have to redo them. The slightest bump of the SAB will knock all kinds of stuff into the air.

That's why we miss having a flow hood. Seriously considering building another 2x4, because SABs always gave sack-sweating anxiety. I'm building a nice big SAB now, but still not a fan of how much air flow it must make when I'm going in and out to flame and such.
I confess, I hate SABs.

Thinking about learning some basic woodworking/electrical to make a damn flowhood.
I always check glassware/pp5 whenever I thrift or shop, to make sure I'm not missing some sick deals.
I check every health food store for a new agar.
I also plan hikes around what could be fruiting, or dependent on the trees/humidity/elevation/temperature.
I dream of going back to the PNW to just take in all the fungi/foraging.

It's honestly so easy to build one. You can get white laminated press board for a reasonable price and a 2x4 HEPA for about $200 depending where you find it. As long as you buy a blower that is as or more powerful than what you need for the filter, you can get a volt controller to set it to the perfect output. You test this by putting a candle in front of it and if it bends over to 90 degrees and doesn't flicker, you know you have 100ft/s out the front.
You just build the box so your blower isn't facing the filter directly and you're good to go. Some screws and wood glue and it'll be rock solid. You can buy the iron-on edge finishing laminate to make all your edges nice and clean and the whole thing is easy to wipe down and keep spotless.
Cost me about $400 to make and I sold it for $650 a year later. Worked perfectly and made life so much easier, because it was a 4x4 and I could do everything in front of it, including bag transfers.

I rest my arms on my SAB armholes near constantly. its pressed up against the wall though, so it doesnt move at all. Very low contam rate here, almost nothing on transfer plates, I only really see contams on my inoculation / spread plates these days.
I confess, I cooked grain designated for masters for the first time yesterday, and apon unpacking the PC I noticed I cooked 2 jars completely empty Still ended up with around 16 325ml masters of pearl millet and milo.

I also threw out a jar today that didnt get a wedge. Which is weird because I'm usually very methodical.

Has anyone ever started a PC load and had to check if they put water in it?
My last batch was heating for a few minutes before I remembered water.

This right here is why I'm seriously considering dropping the money and doing a flow hood build. I found a 2x2 filter for just under 200.. Bigger sizes not much more. Serious appeal to not having to stress about the sab anymore.

I couldn't tell you the last time I have flamed anything, I use a nice wet alcohol towel of 70% or higher isopropyl alcohol. I like wet but not soaking wet and when I'm not using the blade I keep it wrapped up in the towel between transfers and such, before to wipe everything thoroughly with enough alcohol for it get in the cracks and crevices.
