I confess I almost bought a case of 70% iso. Gas station had a new 24 bottle case on the counter and I asked him, so like 1 per person. He said no, want to buy the whole case. 2.99 a bottle. I almost did it, but walked away with just 2.
I also confess.
I went to the shop and got a 50ft ext cord and my hot plate and my PC. Filled it with water and put the trivet in. Hooked everything up. Turned on the heat. Locked all the screws on the lid.
Then I sat back to drink a beer and looked over to get my beer and Bam! Media bottle sitting next to the beer.
I confess I forgot to load the PC.

I have a similar stoner move. I used to put a small piece of painters tape on every jar marking dates, etc then transfer that tape to tubs with new data, etc. Recently started just marking one jar out of laziness but keep them in groups.
So I g2g 20 jars, mark one of them when I'm done and segregate them to a group. A week later the ONE that I mark and date has a big pile of colonized grain in the top of the jar cause I never shook it after g2g.

My daughter took me on a little road trip into the mountains for an early Father’s Day. We smoked a bowl of Dad’s homegrown, listened to music, admired the scenery, and she told me about a trip she took on some APE I grew for her. (She’s 20).
I confess it was a pretty perfect day...

I confess that a while ago I was impatient when PCing so I used hot water from an electric water boiler as PC water, which consequently made my jars crack and later spill out and create a huge mess, which of course I didnt notice until after the PCing period.

As an extremely lazy amateur mycologist, I often feel like my agar plates are working me rather than the other way around. A few months ago I started adding black tea to my recipe to try to overcome a particularly contaminated print. The teagar freezes bacteria in place, but also slows down mycelium to a crawl. It can take a month to fill a 100mm plate.
So now, if I'm feeling overwhelmed by the agar, I'll make a batch of teagar transfers and take a break.

I Confess I want to check out this teagar thing. I’ve heard about it a couple of times but never seen a tek for it.

I think my guidance came from either mycolorodo or ferather. Something like make tea with 3 bags per 500ml, normal mea/agar. I've found 1 bag per 350ml works great for my purposes. I also really like the color it adds.

So you just add black tea as your water? It sounds good. But also acidic maybe some calicium carbonate? Little PH buffer?

By no means an expert, but I also heard that pouring hot agar on top of a contamed bit of mushroom, or in your case agar piece, is a way to isolate. The mycelium survives it better and grows through the agar to the top, and then, very soon afterwards, you shave off some mycelium, w/o touching the agar, on top of the spot with your culture. Not sure how well it works, but thought it fitting here.

Yep, pretty simple, and won't PC away like antibiotics. Ferather was particular about the pH, but it worked fine without so I haven't bothered. Also, he said he found you can use tea in your grain soak/cook to make the grains antibiotic, tried once, with mixed results, some jars took too long and contammed, some tubs went 4 flushes.
@ polaritymind, yep the hot pour/sandwich Tek were on my list had the teagar not worked.

So im a bit late to the convo but i lost my dad to lung/bone cancer in 2015, about the same time i discovered mushrooms. I would do anything in my power and give up every possession i have to share a meal with my dad, let alone a trip. I say do it. You won't regret it, but you will regret NOT doing it

I confess that I want to see if pleurotus mycelium will kill the nematodes living in my garden, tomatoes won't grow anymore because they keep eating the roots or whatever they do and I remember that pleurotus likes to eat nematodes, so, I'm collecting woodchips and start spawn to mix in the soil. I may be wasting my time but I'm curious to see what happens, now if I can find a mushroom that eats spider mites i'll be a happy Gardner again.

I confess covid 19 testing sucks! Had a sinus infection so when she shoved that 8 inch swab in the nose to the back of the throat with relative easy, all I could think was "your welcome nurse, but don't forget to thank the cocaine that made this easy."
Also yeah I don't feel like growing mushrooms today.

Hope you feel better soon, I spent the day making funeral arrangements for my mom and dad, also nursing my sick uncle whom is in endstage liver failure.

I don't think many people actually value work, but if they ever truly become disabled is when they really miss what it means to have a job. Hopefully, you enjoy what you do because having a job that you hate isn't worth it.
I hate those brain scratching nasal swabs, that shit doesn't feel good. Sinus meds make me feel like I'm on bad coke or some shit so I don't take anything but high humidity for Sinus issues.
