Shame on me.

I haven’t tried no pours yet but I really can’t see it being easier or faster than pouring it.
The main advantage I guess would be if you’re not confident you’ll be able to pour without contaminating but I really don’t think thats ever happened, even when I was first starting and fumbling plates all over.
I’ll find out soon though I just got some reusable ones.

That is pretty much why I opted for a no pour tek... Faster and less of a contamination potential IMO.
Plus SAB work still makes me nervous

For Krombipulos it’s not about confidence in the pour. That part is easy. It’s confidence in the company that’s claiming their Amazon-sold dishes are actually sterile, when they arrive in ultra thin plastic packaging, that’s all creased and jacked up to where you’d never know there was a tiny hole in it.
He likes knowing that the PP5s are sterile once done and knowing he can stack 50 of them for weeks without issue right out of the PC and head on to next steps. He also doesn’t like fucking with more parafilm than he has to.
It’s not to say that poured are any harder, because ultimately it’s about as many steps. It’s pretty dependant on your work area, because it can just be easier to not have to pour and wrap every dish and pray there’s wasn’t a contam in the dish or on your film. You can bang out pouring a hundred of them on the kitchen counter, close and toss in the PC.
Only real difference in ease is making up the no-pour’s GE ports, which is easy if not a little tedious, but it’s an investment in time, because you’ll be reusing them over and over. Then it’s either pc and pour, or pour and pc...
The little extra time for pays off in the end, if it’ll reduce a couple possible vectors of contam. He also loves the ease and success of EzLCs in PP5s, because it’s really nice to have that visual confirmation, before transferring to a larger quantity of LC or to spawn.
Personal preference, really. He’ll be doing both pours and no pours, cause he likes to play both sides. Fuck convention, right?

The thing I like about no pour is that they are reusable. I will probably switch when I get done with this box of petri dishes. It's like 80 bucks for 500. Or purchase some holy grail reusable dishes.
I hated the glad mini rounds because they always tipped over.

Exactly. He would have got the holy grail dishes, but sadly the company is US based, so 20 of them would have cost 80 bucks. Found 2 different sized dishes that will work great for different applications, that he bought 100 of, for 18 bucks. But he'd love to a have a big supply of those screw-top beauties down the road, when he can workout a bulk order deal with the company.

Lets get some REAL confessions on this thread.
Confession 1: I just put Spore solution to nopour agar jars, even though I have plates available.
Confession 2: Said spore solution was from years old homemade syringes, including the very first spore syringes I ever made over 3 years ago
Confession 3: Some of said spore solution landed up being squirted on my ceiling as some myc had germinated and clogged the needles. I flushed the needles and reflamed about twice per syringe
I am 100% certain most of these jars will be bacterial soup. but if I do manage to clean up these samples, I'll have most varieties I've ever seriously grown back in rotation

Lol November. My favorite part of mush cult is the quick life cycle. I have a lot of respect for the people who do serious work breeding strains of weed after doing similar stuff with cubes. The time commitment is huge, legit long game stuff.
I gotta get a hold of some seeds and grow a few plants. It’s been a long time and it’d be cool to have a couple hanging out in the yard or the house. Plus they smell awesome

I confess that my mycofamily has been amazing during my recent struggles, depression has been kicking my ass but I do find solace in cultivation and microscopy by keeping my mind busy and off the things I can't control.
Love you Psilo, you're an amazing, beautiful soul.

On a considerably less Oceanic / Universal Love theme...
I confess that my 30 + year married, lackluster sex life, and amateur mycologist self keeps looking at this cartoon and thinking “Why, oh Why?! Did I not grow more when I was younger and single...?”
Of course it is silly and a fantasy (but see part one of the confession).

That’s rough psilo, I’m only early 30s but I’ve ive thinking about that stuff lately.
Up until a few years ago my life was just nonstop wildness but all of a sudden I slowed down and kinda started to value sleeping and feeling good over everything else. But I’m so glad I did it while I could.
My best friend since I was 8 was the same way but started dating this religious chick senior year and married her when he was 19. Only girl he’s been with. He super good looking to the point that random chicks would come up and hit on him when we were at the store or whatever.
I keep waiting for him to snap, between the life he’s had and when he realizes all the stuff he missed out on. Like one time at a bar in college these two gorgeous girls walked up and asked if he’d have a threeway with them. Dude was in marriage counseling already at the time. And now four kids.
Idk, I find myself pondering weird shit now that it’s sinking in I’m not a kid anymore.

I with you guys on the young adult reminiscing.
I did a fuck ton of drugs and loved every minute of it. But there is a time and place. Now I enjoy a cold beer and a single mushroom when I can.
Oh man I loved the way coke smells.

I'm on the opposite end. Married 12 years now, since 20 and I wouldn't trade her for anything!
When you find a good one, man.
She's been with me since my younger growing, fucking, partying years and we partied and had plenty of fun together and now we both get to look back and be like, "remember that one time we fucked like dying animals, in the bathroom at the theater?" "yeah, let's go try that again without spraining something!"
We've had our threesomes, traveled all over, attended many a protest and done various drugs through to the morning hours. Never walked out on each other, never needed counseling and never shit on each other on a personal level (just our choices sometimes).
Now we have 2.5 kids, a house/property that we own and not a fuck to give in the world!

I confess:there are times in life when I'm unsure about the decisions I've made... going fulltime mush cult is NOT one of them... its a LOT of work, absolutley more than 40 a week... but its SOOO rewarding to be able to provide a service to the public through a hobbyist skillset... I haven't felt like tripping, and the weather is just right... I think I'll wait until July 4th: celebrate my personal independence, as july 3rd of last year was my last day working for someone else... I strongly urge anyone feeling the pressure, and also the fear of doubt... TAKE THE LEAP! If you flop, so what? Get another job, you got the one you have? One life, live that shit

Hell yeah double Independence Day!
I haven’t tripped besides test doses in a long time. My cars busted and all of a sudden the couple guys I would ride with near me are brainwashed and think they’re in the da Vinci code or some shit. Follow the clues man everything’s lies and stay strapped cuz antifa is coming to riot at the Walmart next to you in the middle of nowhere but the local news covers it up.
I’m renting a car in the next day or two and going alone to this campsite deep in the forest and taking a real dose.
It’ll be a nice change of scenery too. You wouldn’t think there’s pine forest 45 minutes from the desert but it’s there.
