No honestly I don't know how to differentiate.

I saw this and thought trich.

Smelled harsh, for lack of a better term musty and moldy (in a very bad way) not the nice fresh mushroom smell.

Here's what it looks like. I'm just waiting for a moment to run it through the pc before dumping it in the back.

Just dump it outside, no need in sterilizing it... downwind if you're that concerned, but it's not warranted... that looks like trich: almost grainy like fine sand... penicillium is whispy, like loose cotton... proper diagnosis after all lol

Oh nice.

At least the rest of my cultures and jars are working out better.

about to set up 8 edible varieties in the little greenhouse out back.

Super stoked to be eatin homegrown.

hopefully growing cubes hasn't spoiled me too much with their simplicity.

They've each got their sensitive period ime... will say if you mist oyster too heavily too long, you'll have to mist them throughout or they get leathery and crack: just after pinset development, pull back misting a bit and theyll almost require no misting before maturation... theyll grow larger this way as well: sweet spot... unfortunately, not many gourmets match cubensis simplicity due to the greater need for frequent air exchange... I will say that shiitake is notably hardy to insufficient fae as I've fruited blocks in closed tubs with the walls misted (humidity chamber without coir water resivoir)at birth and set and forget, fruit just as well as open shelf blocks with no required maintenance, or discernable loss in yield or speed, and no noticeable changes in phenotypical expression as a result

Got it.

for now the plan is to keep them all in 6qt tubs rye spawn -> coir.

got an inkbird controller for temp and humidity. Got a cool mist humidifier plan on piping into the top.

that coupled with a heater, then a muffin fan going constantly for FAE.

Figured I'd aim to keep the humidity at 85-95%RH and the temp around 65F.

The greenhouse is in the shade under the stairs outside.

Might be doomed if we have too many days like yesterday. Got over 100F yesterday

What type of gourmets in shoeboxes? Oyster will grow, but long-legged and small caps: coir works but will either need supplementation or a heavy spawn ratio, as coir has little to no nutritional value: I suggest looking for a local saw mill or hardwood furniture shop to source hardwood sawdust for free

Brother in law runs a woodshop.

I've got a dozen giant garbage bags full of hardwood sawdust fo free.

the varieties are:

-Pioppino
-Shiitake
-Winecap
-Nameko
-White Enoki
-King Oyster
-Black Pearl King Oyster
-Blue Oyster
-Lions mane on the way

I also have morel but the plan is just to make a bunch of spawn jars and spread it all over my property to try and get it started. If the conditions are right I figure nature will do it's thing. Plenty of trees and shade around.

I have spawn bags too so I might use those for some of the edibles

I have another confession.

I let my housemates know I got a dehydrator.

Now I end up trading off days to use my dehydrator because dried fruit + boredom.
:veggiefruit:

but hey, tastes good man.

Good to see you around Cap

Here’s my confession - I am stunned by the purity of this Psilocybe Tampanensis ... this is the MS inoculation plate. After about two weeks of nothing a tiny white speck appeared and this is the result:

I confess I also felt bad taking a transfer from this and wrecking the beautiful symmetry 😭

I confess I ditched all my myco work that wasn't harvesting for at least a month. I even have a couple bags of spawn I haven't used from like 2 months ago when I spawned what I just finished harvesting today. Fortunately I did put spores to agar, and so I have Melmac plate fruits to clone.

What kind of plate is that psilo? I just ordered 24 75mm pp petris 2 250 ml media bottles and other odds and ends.im excited to work in actual petris as I've only ever used no pours. I will still use no pours but I am hoping the real petris help my contam rate during transfers.

I confess have hit my first successful harvest in forever of lpeu. The bioassay was my standard 2 grams. It was way more potent than I had first thought it would be. Not ape potent but still more than I had thought. I pulled a clone from the same exact fruit I ate. Sooo yay me.

It's looks like a no pour, I've made some using the glad(great value works too) mini rounds, that looks like the screw top ones which are my favorite. Pouring petri's is actually quite easy, i'd say the only hard part for me is holding the bottle while it's still hot as shit. It just motivates me to pour faster though lol. I bought a box of 25 sleeves of 20 100mm petri dishes on eBay for roughly $60. And I spent my first 2 or 3 rounds just practicing pours because the materials were relatively inexpensive. I've worked in some "sketchy" conditions before and had some pretty good results, it just all comes down to your sterile technique. And for me practice outside of a ''high pressure'' situation was really critical to helping me develop. I hope your plates come out fire though, agar is too fun to skip over

I confess,

It makes me depressed how many people I really like that are all of a sudden total political conspiracy morons. Earlier today a good friend I hadn’t seen in a while stopped by and randomly went off on how the virus is a liberal attack to try and assassinate trump, Fauci owns stock in the Wuhan lab, then starts showing me a video of some lady saying she’s a scientist that worked with him and he’s trying to do some other random evil shit.

So I google her name real quick and she was fired for data manipulation and then arrested for some other work related shit.

Then my friend says oh thats bullshit Googles not a reliable source.

I had flashbacks to another friend telling me how good he is at poker because he just played and got 3 flushes and a full house.

Just such a fundamental misunderstanding of what things are.

I also confess I’m so anxious so spawn this ufo im about to fan my hot coir.

Alright I’m done.

I have family and friends going hard on the whacky conspiracy theories
It’s wild... I’m like WTF?

Re the dish. It is from Amazon - a #5 plastic bead container with a threaded lid. Eatyualive is using them for his no pours.!

View is better than most no pour containers...

I confess I’m very excited about a spore print a Shroomery member is sending me!
