I confess that I'm suffering from severe mycology addiction symptoms with my desire to grow pans. Im about to inoculate some agar just because I want something to do (other than housework)...I could happily just do it 8hrs a day.

I confess I have been up all night drinking coffee and kratom doing lab work and listening to the michell Petrucciani station on Spotify. It was supposed to be quick SAB session before bed. Though I took multiple extended smoke breaks and such, I got in a groove and just kept going. I prepped four 500ml media bottles of agar, a 500ml media bottle of SAGARI base, 3x plates of every print and most MSS I have (36 so far), made coffee and got some things ready for my gfs morning work routine, took care of the dogs, smoked a bit and am about to head back in to finish up the last of the MSS and a dirty agar plate or two. I swear I've seen it before, my lab is some kind of time dilation machine because 30 mins of work in there is 2+ hours out here. It's crazy, but I digress.
Point is I have spent, and will continue to spend, too much time playing with my myco toys and neglecting prior or basic needs.
Also, I confess I've been trying for months to get fruits out of my Tamps with no luck and Psilo's over here growing fucking art!

Hey curious folks.
Regarding the greenery... what I did was spawn my ATL #7 stones to a coir verm substrate. Then after waiting a few days I opened a pack of arugula seeds and sprinkled them on top. I misted a bit and kept the RH high. The seeds sprouted before the pins came in (my plan) and the canopy of leaves helped keep the RH nice and high as the pins developed. I’ve done the same thing with wood lovers (ps. Allenii and ps. Subaeruginosa) usinging a layer of potting soil on top of colonized wood chips and alfalfa seeds. This is a longer term strategy... the soil provides more nutrients for the plants and the alfalfa grows low and dense. Alfalfa seeds are easy to obtain at a health food store because people sprout them for salads and sandwiches.
I confess I really wish I had more time for playing around with growing projects!

Better clean that up before forensic scientists get there. They will know the true story of the mycologist.

I was changing the blade and my tweezers broke and my hand slipped. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Brah I stabbed myself trying to open a jar up with the scalpel in my hand, and the blade went in a third of its length, I honestly didn't even know I was cut till blood started running out of my glove lol. It was quick and pretty painless but it blead really bad, like 20 min to get it to stop. At least it was sterile I just flamed it.

Haha, that what I said. I had just opened that blade so it was cleanest and cleanest(sharpest) cut I've ever had. I thought about posting the pic but seemed distasteful, but it looks like someone took a swipe at me with a scalpel in their hand and caught my pinky knuckle. It's a half circle where my knuckle was bent with a .5" radius. I cut the end of my finger off once, bandaged it and went on a 2day mountain biking trip next day. I carry sterile suture sets and a surgical staple gun in my go-bag\truck. I'm not stranger to first aid and dressing wounds, but this was one of the few cuts that was dripping blood before I had time to look down at it. Should have just gone down stairs to get the needle nose, but I was being lazy.

I CONFESS: I always try and do malt/dextrose agar because I'm too stubborn to go out and get Karo and it always gets wayyy too much sediment. I CONFESS: I haven't been taking pictures of my progress because the camera on my phone doesn't have a good depth of focus for plates etc. I CONFESS: I never take notes because I'm a bad boy. I CONFESS: My first run on unmod plates this year got absolutely no germination and 100% contam because I moved to fast in my room/ didn't spray down with water, and my room is like, 18C/64F. I CONFESS: I used to flush my box with Clorox because I was a bad boy. Hail Mushrooms, full of grace, yadda yadda yadda...amen.

Mistakes of an amateur mycologist: I got 3 mist sprays of 70% iso on my beautiful pin set of RW this morning, I then went overboard with H20 mist as soon as the alcohol scent hit my nostrils. Mental vibes were sent to my birthing boys all day long in hopes the exposure wouldn't take them down. Mini white caps and blue stems welcomed me when I visited them tonight. I gave them a pep talk of what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Godspeed my little RW men.

Yikes brother! I know the feeling of "oh shit I fucked up, spray water on it!!" followed by "oh shit that's too much water on it". Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
