Im gonna stop everyone right now... This shit is way OT.
Confession: I started the TMF variety of mushrooms when I poorly tried to clean up a wild spore print from some wild texas gold caps I harvested from 2008. I don't know if it is still in circulation, Stromrider had the most success with it and grew these Weird Donut looking mushrooms from it.

This was the best pic I could steal from his Gallery. There were some others, but I liked this one the most. I never managed to get it to do what he did here, but I am curious if anyone still has any TMF prints running around.

I confess I totally misread Gizmo's comment earlier. Didn't see they quoted Ted, just saw my comment and assumed it was my quote. Also confess I meant to edit to reflect this but forgot

@Randalf the grey, I'm thinking that we (you and I) have a lot of similarities in life and I get the impression that you are willing to share your knowledge and experience with others because you hope that it will help make a difference and even if that only helps 1 person, it's worth it. Remaining teachable has been something that I cherish, to bad more people's minds aren't as open.

Damn brother, right in the feels. And it makes me truly happy to know that you are out there. I absolutely try to keep that mentality, and it takes conscious effort, but sometimes I slip and need to be reminded. I think it was Richard Feynman that said something along the lines of 'everything is fascinating if you dig deep enough'. Learning is a true passion, but I know I'm a jack of all trades and master of none. I love to teach people and share my experiences and knowledge but sometimes forget that I should be learning from them as well. I know it was Bill Nye that said "everyone you will ever meet knows something that you don't." and that always stuck with me.
I would love to see more people that sincerely cherish knowledge and learning. The most important part is knowing\understanding\accepting that when you are presented with information that shows you are wrong, that it is not only ok, but good to change your opinion and understanding. We grow by changing for the better, and that starts by admitting we could be better.
And absolutely, if my rambling can help one person one day throughout their life, then that means I made the world a slightly better place and what better reason for being could there be. Mush love brother!

I confess, I fucked up by letting my AA and RW germ plates get taken over by something other than AA and RW mycelium. Now i gotta start the process again, I need to work less and work more on my mush cultivation.

I confess, I just lost 20 jars to contamination last month. 8 bacteria, 12 mold. I believe it's all culture work. The mold jars I switched to polyfil as a filter but I dont think that has anything to do with it.
I remaking all my stored plates with a new agar munchs 123pda. Less nutes in agar should help. Going to focus on quick transfers from the very leading edge. Switching to a different color too, not very smart use a blue green dye when getting blue green mold. Run the sab dry with just an alcohol mist and a soapy floor. Said screw it and got a map gas torch too. I'm going all out on these contams

I confess that I have not kept my word to a fellow myco enthusiast, I could make excuses but that's all they are and that's not who I am or what I'm about. I promised to send prints and have failed to follow up to make sure that I did my part and I failed. I offer my humble, sincere apology!!! You know who your are, hit me up and I will make it right.

I had contam issues with poly years back due to the poly fitting too loose. I now twirl it tight and pull through the hole so the "bun" is on the bottom side. It fits so tight that it takes a little force to get it through. I trim it, run a lighter over it to singe the fray strains. Solved my mold contam issues. Not saying this is the best, hell seen people just flip the lids and ran jar after jar fine. Just showing what I do.

I don't think I have posted it in my journal yet but I just wrote in my physical grow log, my book of Genesis, the other day about this. My result have definitely been sub par lately. I think the reasons for this are numerous and I am aware of most. If I had to sum it up, I would say Life is the cause for me, but it sucks knowing that I am capable of so much better. For now, I'll just take what I can get out of what I got and keep moving forward. Best of luck to you in figuring out and fixing your contam issues. You are not alone in that boat though for sure.

So I took the trip the other night that I was thinking about. I ate about .8g of stones and some fresh PESA. I kinda just kept eating them through the night. No joke, like a pile of them. Problem was, I started having some weird cramps or sharp pains in my right upper abdomen earlier that day and they continued through the night. This on top of my nerve pain in my back made for a very uncomfortable night. I didn't get any of the pain relief you guys talked about until the very end of the trip, so I spent a lot of the night kinda laying sidewise half off my bed and changing positions between there and the couch depending on which part hurt more at the time. My gf ate 2 doses and played TheSims most of the night so she was happy. I did spend some time listening to shpongle with the lights off and my laser light show going in my living room (smoke machine came in the day after. Next time is gonna be great!) so it wasn't a terrible time, but I just couldn't get into it for long without a sharp pain of some kind bringing me back. I coughed in the wrong position while smoking a bowl and that ruptured disc smashed into my nerve harder than ever. Brought me completely back to sober in an instant. My surgery is coming up this week and I'll have some time off after to recover. I should be able to get a good one in then without all the pain and can truly enjoy it. Even though the other night was not what I wanted or hoped, it wasn't what you guys described (no offense), and it wasn't necessarily "fun", I truly did need it. It had been too long and my head feels better. Here is the before and after pics of the pile I was munching on all night. Yes, the after pics is kinda dried up from sitting out but I think you can get the gist of it.

I also confess that despite not working and being broke, I spent some money on a microscope and "disgusting biology" experiment kit for my gf's son. It comes with some agar and petri dishes and swabs to swab various things\places on your body and he saw mine and asked if he could look through it the next time I was working on stuff so I they would be good for him. I would love to foster that curiosity and help it grow into a love for knowledge if I can. HOWEVER, after looking at the scope(which are exactly what is to be expected, not complaining) and the experiment book in the kit, I found a slightly better kids scope on Amazon for less and realized the only things I am missing to do the experiments with my own supplies is a balloon and red food coloring. So as cheapskate and perhaps morally questionable as this is, I am going to take pictures of the booklet to have all the details and such for him (her son) to read and then return both the experiment kit and the first microscope. Nothing has been opened or used other than the boxes they came in so I'm not ripping anyone off, just saving a bit of money.

Randalf, sorry to hear that you had a miserable time. I normally eat enough at one time for a full blown experience, the euphoria at the peak of the trip is where I have the most relief.
edit: on a good note, my mom made me feel awesome today, she's in a physical therapy rehab facility for the next 2 weeks or so and she asked me if she could come stay with me for a few months. It makes me happy to be able to take care of her and help nurture her back to health.

I feel you buddy.
I wonder how much worse your pain and discomfort would be without shrooms to help ease that discomfort. Keep your head high, there are people who are cheering for you.

Really glad to hear that about your mom Doc, hope her recovery goes quickly! That was my plan. I at about half of the pile to start with the stones. Eating more as I went was more just the fact that they were in front of me.

That was the first time I have eaten any since a month or two before this happened. By the time I woke up, there was no relief. Not sure what I did wrong caus so know a lot of people say it helps, but it was definitely not an effective or all that noticable method of pain relief for me.

I confess, I made the mistake of referring to my spawn jars and cultures as my heart during an argument with the girlfriend...didn't go over well lol
she made threats to break or throw them away, and I accused her of getting mad and always going for the heart
