@ Randalf I make a 1/4" hole but I'm sure 1/2" is fine for a sfd. I cut mine the size of a dime so 1/2" would be too big to cover.

@Caps I don't cycle my jars quick enough to justify leaving them lying around dirty. And yeah fuck poly. I started with them and I know they work but always skeeved me out as a vector. Looks sloppy too.

Only 4 time zones in USA?  We have NFLD, Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific.  Thought you had 5.

I confess. I got all my jars for free from work. I was using honey at a rate of 2qts a day for close to a year so I scored them all. Then I used an old skanky pillow for the filters. They are regular mouth so grain to grain gets messy. And yes they look sloppy. But you cant beat 100 free jars. They have all been through the PC lots of times and the filters are still good. I also confess I don't like taking pictures of them cause they are ugly and I think folks with SFD looks tighter. I tjust never want to sit down and make that many lids again or spend money to upgrade to wide mouths. I wish I could get unmodified lids to work cause that looks the best to me but I just don't trust it.

Use what you got. You’re right can’t beat 100 free jars!

I confess, I was awoken at 4 am from my wife’s vibrating face scrubber that somehow went off on its own. So I jumped on shroomery at 4 am on Christmas morning because I can’t go back to sleep. Looking at link lists, grow logs, chamber builds and a number of other things. I should smoke a bowl.

Well you guys only ones see my jars: they function... and if they're open, they dry rather quickly, and contaminants fail to grow... I've even started to collect the left over dried up grain and recycle it for no preps... I'm not here to be pretty, just as efficient and effective as possible... I have found washing jars, continually changing filters, or covering in foil to be more elements of habit/comfort for the cultist than necessity for the culture... my cultures and I have an arrangement: I dont give them any extra stress or attention than needed, and they do their thing without giving me much shit about it... might be time to have a pow wow with yourns!
:kittylaugh:

I'm just giving you shit, but I really do feel as though vibes play a heavier role than is assumed... I see people worry about every step, have troubles at every step: I and others have a hard time NOT growing something from nothing... I really feel as though (in my case at least) the lack of concern and worrisome energies allows them to just GO

I confess, I've become one of those weird folks spouting hippy jargon you avoid in public

I confess, I didnt want to harvest yesterday so I just shut off the space heater, hoping to slow things down enough to avert the sporesplosion, and it totally worked.

nice,
I confess that I spend so much time on here I saw a license plate the other day that similar to your username AyePlus and I couldn't stop imagining a fellow shroomer was driving in front of me lol

Also confessing I need to be honest with myself and stop throwing up 10+ tubs at a time just to watch them crap out, almost all of my more "controlled" grows with 1qt to a shoebox have been a ton better. I am shitting the bed on expansion. Not a mold fest but my latest round of an untested RW clone is worrying me its gonna go green, Ill get some pics after work
hoping its just some ugly blobbing/knotting as seen here

1:1 spawn ratio? RW is particularly sensitive to excess nutrition IME- pretty general consensus in the grow along thread as well IIRC

learned my lesson there already
they are all 1:2

from my 1st LC inoculation, LC tested clean to this day on agar
jars all recovered from a shake and such...

hard to get any input without pics, I wont clog the confessions trying to get it diagnosed in the meantime tho. Best I can say is it looks just like the knotting in other areas but more condensed and now forming a "blobbish" type growth. Different enough from prior blobs for me not to automatically think they are blobs tho

*Ill have pics in the grow along and general disc around 6pm for any interested in giving their  :2cents:

Could be grain prep, moisture content with spawning... any number of factors from plate to fruit... high spawn ratio was a quick fix, and is now a quick exclusion lol... not a total loss: and imo, blobs are fruit too,so not really a loss at all... I've seen some very strange RW fruit body masses develop into normal(ish) looking fruit

I confess. Got sucked into Hamiltons pharmacopoeia.  I had seen the one where he eats Adderall and uses tree frog venom then brews up some Aya in a hotel room and thought to myself "this guy's a douchebag" but honestly I kinda like him now. The mushroom episode was sort of wack as far as the indoor cult side was concerned, but it was neat to see the propagation of caerulescens on sugar cane by villagers. I also confess. It's 2:30 and I'm going to streak a few spores just so I have to pour more plates. Must be going manic lol. Time to ride the wave and try not to crash. Thinking I'm going to dose my face off NYE.

I confess I'm still leaching info from this forums, I voraciously read almost every Tek getting ready for my first grow. Thanks to all of you I started using agar, and I'm fascinated of it!!
I'm from Argentina and I'm still waiting for my spores to come from spain, 6 weeks and no news. Buy recently I won 1 syringe from a growing talk nearby home and I inoculate it on Agar, 10 days ago, there is no sign is mycilium neither contamination, so I think that syringe wasn't good enough. But I'm happy my sterile technique are good for a first timer.

Thanks!

This injury has had me down a lot longer than I expected. Confess I'm starting to fall behind on myco work just because I can physically do it. Have tons of agar work to do. Hoping I can at least get tubs spawned tomorrow and maybe some plates transfered.
