Just too many random low level failures. Threw out an LC today. Odd things showing up
on plates here and there. Nothing seems to be going well. All of the stuff I've done
in front of the hood has been flawless for years...so I am not used to this shit

Since 2013 or so? I'm wondering if I need to clean the outside of the filter. Can that be done safely?
I can see spots of "something" on various parts of the filter. Worried about stuff just floating out
of the air and getting on the filter itself...and turning it on isn't enough to get that shit off.

I'm not sure buddy. Maybe compressed air. I'd be careful though as the material is super fragile.

If you've had it for 5+  years. My guess is your probably right. Time for a new one.

Hmm. I've heard of people having filters for upwards of 10 years. Do you use a prefilter?

I do have a prefilter. The only thing I can think of is that I no longer have
a small, dedicated room for the hood. But that's been the case for the last
year and I am just now having problems. Or I fucked the environment up royally
when I opened a print in front of the hood...that I didn't know was a wild
print until after the fact.

Singing "This is my confession"

Ok so I have been working out of the same SAB for over 2 yrs now and I confess tonight is the first time I've ever washed it out :facepalm3::lol:

Now don't get me wrong I always wipe it down with alcohol and possibly some lysol if I have it laying around but this is the first time I've ever brought it to the bathtub and actually scrubbed it down.
