Lacons containers in smaller quantities.
esdplasticcontainers.com now has a huge selection of lacons containers with no minimums.

:booooom:

Still pretty pricy... disposable petri's are around $0.14 each. So that's almost 10 rounds in the PC each for those guys to get the same cost. That's a lot of energy use to sterilize over and over... or just recycle your plastic petris.

50 for 100 bucks is tempting just to try em out and not have to wrap but I still have almost 400 disposables.

Lol you’re not alone, I’m still rocking mine even though I have had a hood for a year now. Do like the ease of pouring for when I’m doing antibiotics etc. But honestly it’s not like pour agar gives me any significant advantages. Perhaps I’m just too used to no pour having done so much of it. However the amount of agar work I been doing is decreasing. Using a lot of LC these days.

That's another reason I wanna start messing around with LCs. I go through a lot of plates.

I confess I will soon be spawning a shitload of APE

On the topic of agar I also confess that I dont ever see myself straying from no pours

Very reluctantly: but with flow, why not?

Nice psi

I confess, I'll be glad to get these sterilizers up and running! Use the Prestos as boil pots for oats, and only pressure cook in the 6qt when I sterilize agar, or pint masters lol... I suppose they'll be instances when I only need 8 bags  (4 in each Presto)...

I confess I go thru so much agar I could never afford to do petri's  I use them here and there when I come across them but seriously tho I have close to 200 pastyplates and they're in constant rotation! 4 for $1 can't beat that

I randomly wonder, why don't people just reuse petris? They're made with pp5 no?

Totally feel you there!!

Caps, I'm thinking I'll end up spawning 4 or 5 66qt monos and a handful of shoeboxes.  I like how I haven't had to unlatch shoeboxes in the past for APE at all but I wanna do some APE monos for the first time and see how they perform in a big tub.

Then some more monos when I find some good clones :crazy2:.

I've heard they typically arent pp5 and are designed to be single use so I think you need to spend more money for ones you can run through a sterilizer

I confess I'm afraid to try to make spawn bags. I have a bunch and I plan to get into it but I keep procrastinating and my fear of fucking it up prevents me from ever reaching for any.

I just made two bags, the third got wet. One has the tiniest green spots at 99% colonization  the other has tiny bacterial spots. From 2 pints i have 5 decent quarts and 5 slightly trichey quarts. Might make 2 monotubs and an outdoor patch.

What’s the worst that could happen?  The only bad thing I could see is you could learn what not to do next time, and those are valuable lessons.  Grain is cheap, you’ll do ok no matter what!  Go for it!
