Jack,
In those moments remember, your life has meaning. Maybe not to you at the time, but to us it does. WE would miss you. WE would care. Who would tell us you were gone?
I confess, I never give myself permission to "let go", to "die" when I'm tripping. There is the slight chance something is really the matter and I have stuff I want to do still.
When someone mentions suicide, people get riled up (and for good reason). I suppose though, there is a difference in thinking about suicide in a passing way and in a serious, practical way.

just bought some malt extract, so we'll see. what ratios are you using?
what would you recommend doing for inoculation? I have some MS syringes and sterile tips. I find that if I try to use the syringe I end up dishing out way too much and it ends up pooling on the agar, so last time squirted some from the syringe into a shot glass wiped with iso alcohol and dipped the tips in there then inoculated. might be too complicated?

Yeah. Just drop some on the plate. And give the plate a little swirl after. You'll have a bunch of inoculation points.

thanks everyone who reached out. your concern means a lot, and your relating to it helps for some reason. but i'm feeling silly over it, and feel an explanation is in order. tl;dr i'm frustrated, eager for the next life, but have work yet to do in this one.
mush love, my people.
as for confessing my myco sins. i'm using polypropylene petri dishes, so i don't have to throw them away. so much work to make and wash and reuse them, i'm considering saying fuck it, and just using the disposable ones.

Thsts probably the worst part about them is having to sterilize them again to be prepped to be poured. Still. You have me curious now. I didnt realize they made reusable plastic ones.
When you bought them how did you receive them. Box of 500, sleeve of 20, etc. And what was the price on them.
Thsnk you in advance

ebay sold by the dozen, individually wrapped. price went up a fair bit recently. i use the 75mm. really, i accepted several disadvantages in exchange for the reuse feature. i just don't like throwing shit away if i can help it. but laziness is a powerful motivator... as ironic as that is.
i run them no pour style. more or less my current process. still refining it.

Have you tried sterilizing them blank and pouring them. I feel like a flowhood would be a huge advantage here obviously.
I think I might grab some just to have around. Occasionally I run out of plates in between buying boxes. No pours would suffice but I kinda wanna try those

have not tried. i know glass ones are to be oven sterilized, which obviously ain't wise with these. but now that you mention it, i guess they could be stacked empty, pc'd, then poured in the sab. i guess it's worth a shot. there is much to be desired in the consistency with the no pour approach.
love working with them, tho, for transfers and inoculations and such.

I got a bunch at a surplus store. I put them in a 'Muda bottle', upside-down, and pc them. Flip the bottle in the SAB and pour away. I only stack them 5 or 6 high, because I crack them slightly (which places the stack off kilter) so I can pour them like normal dishes and not have to open each one individually (takes 2 hands) while pouring.
No parafilm etc. needed, they have their own seal. Never had a problem with cultures stalling either. Nice for mailing too. +'s and -'s of course, like anything.
* when you close them, push all around the perimiter. If you press in the centre, it creates a vacuum.

I really dislike wrapping dishes over and over and cutting new 1" segments. What can I search to find the ones that seal?

those are pretty rad. people on the boards ever do group buys? nine people, 100 plates each for under fifty bucks plus some leg work. or is this in violation of the sponsors agreement? if so, sponsors, we'd like a distributor for these.
i confess, i feel silly for derailing this thread again. it's time to get to work.
