I confess I think all of my syringes are dead. Got them last year stores in mini fridge.  Made 12 modified Pan Style PF canes and not one single one germinated. Pan syringes
On agar nothing germinated. I was doubting my agar skills. Someone sent me a fresh Galindoi print and shit germinated within a week. So now I believe I have a fridge FULL of bunk syringes. My fault for thinking I could store them I guess

Oh, yeah, for sure I agree with your realistic perspective here. Peace and solidarity! I just wish it was different, and harm reduction work is one of my main volunteering things right now.

I confess that I try not to talk realistically about this because... well, it's really fucking shitty. Especially when it intersects with capitalism.

I still havent produced a single mushroom but I've went through probably 200 petris just cleaning cultures and learning from hands on experience.
Been loving this hobby and I'm really glad I returned to it.

What you have is actually early signs of a disease that should have a name but doesn’t.  Be careful, you are showing symptoms.  Uncared for it could become a full blown addiction and you will be completely out of control.  This is basically our support group.  There is little attention given to our type of affliction, no one in the outside world can understand.  It’s a terrible shame.  But we are here for you!

So true! :laugh2:

I've been calling it "fully colonized "... In fact!

But I'm convinced that there's some vestigial language where mushrooms are telling me to help them propagate.

There are FOR SURE good syringes and bad ones. When I get them from one particular vendor they're still good at this point up to 18 months later... when I got some cheap ones off a random vendor on Reddit... not so much and some were DOA.

I used to never get any sleep, in 2016 I tripped for pretty much the whole year, I was able to get my sleep back ironically, along with a melatonin here and there. I'm usually up by the time the sun hits my area as well, its in a cut though, so doesnt hit til about 8 during this time. next month it rises earlier so I'll be up earlier...

Yeah shaper they’re reputable I think I just stored them wrong. Probably would have been better just leaving them room temp. But you live and learn. I’m sure some are still good and some aren’t just have to sort through.

Guess it’s time for me to try to make a shit ton of diff cakes just so I can take spore prints and not lose them all.

Having them in a fridge shouldn't hurt anything, I have had them freeze, and they were still viable.

I love your Black Kow stuff. I tried to grab some instead of coir, but my local place didn't have that brand. Going to try another brand of Steer Manure & Compost mix.

I'm kinda concerned about the amount of wood i see in the mix that I can't see in the pics from your thread. Got some big chunks like landscape mulch. Thinking maybe I should remove some of it before using, what you think?

I got 20 petris to get started a few days ago, I'm about to order 50 more :hehehe:
First 4 were learning. Glad I didn't go too crazy because I'm pretty sure I ended up with contaminants. Poured the other 16 today and hoping I didn't jump the gun, but I went ahead and knocked two up with spores anyway . Strong suspicion all 20 will be used up within the week...

I have become more picky myself, I now dump a bag in a big tote, if the moisture consistentcy is good then I use it as-is. But if its really wet I mix it with verm to get it more consistent. I may throw a rock or two out, mostly I keep the wood chunks in, but there isnt a lot in there. BK seems pretty good about not having a lot of "debris" in them. Wally world is the only place I can find it.

Your increased recognition of what is senseless is an inclination what to choose for in itself..

My confession, I'm prepping agar and millet right now... But I used RO water instead of well water, thinking the well water has been making things difficult for me lately

Build up enough savings for at least twice as long as you expect to require for sustainability. Once you commit there won't be much choice but to succeed and the best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry.
