Boiling is definately over pasteurization temps. That's why calling any kind of bucket tek pasteyrization is just plain incorrect. But it's not a full sterilization either

I hear cube myc likes cooked coir just fine, but in your case I would just make up a new batch. IDK tho it could be fine too. If it were me and tossing a brick of coir is no biggy then do it. I know that between pasteurizing or sterilizing coir it doesnt matter in the end, one is easier than the other IMO so I just go with that. Bucket tek is probably somewhere between the 2 and works great too. When in doubt, throw it out.

It is considered pasteurization because it doesn't kill everything.

I confess I tried to get ape spores, from Nate, to germ on agar with no success. So I tried again last week but instead of just rubbing my inoculating loop on the swab I pulled a piece of the cotton swab off and streaked the plate with that, and to my surprise they germinated and are taking the plate over. The big problem I have is trying to find enough time to transfer some mycelium to a new plate. But I'm so happy that I got them to germinate, and thank you much mushroomnate.

This is what I always recommend people to do with my swabs! I use tweezers tho. I wrap like 8 pairs of tweezers in foil separately and put them in a jar for sterilization in the PC. Then I always have a sterile pair on hand when ever I need one I feel like it cuts down on contams sooo much with swabs!
I keep meaning to write up a tek for this but then I always forget

I just take a swab and streak a half dozen plates or so. Speaking of, I have a pike of neglected plates and a pile of prepped grain... better PC it meow

I just soaked my tweezers in alcohol for 10min then flame sterilize, after they dry off a bit. Iv got some yeast and bacteria on the plates but that's the way all my germ plates usually end up. Iv just had a big hard on for some ape and it feels so good to see it starting, now I need to make the day a few hours longer or I need to tell my boss that I need to work less lol.
