I hate when a wedge slips off my blade right before I make it to the jar... One thing I do often is spill millet when doing g2g transfers... Gotta clean up a mess almost every time

I've been guilty of it. But it's more of it being a cellphone thing rather then just shroomery. Gotta be mindful. or at least try.

I confess that even though I donβt post often, I love coming in here and reading through certain threads (mostly this one, the shoebox thread, and the general cult thread). I donβt know why but it just makes me feel less crazy for being into a hobby that I canβt really bring up anywhere else.

Yet...
In a similar vein, yeah, this hobby has upped my hippie-ness from level one to level four. I'm all like "Yeah, I should turn on this sitar music and burn some incense while I read the Tibetan Book of the Dead tonight. That sounds like a nice evening"

cottage cheese is nasty! I do however like blue cheese lol.
I confess Iβm pretty stoked I have five different varieties on agar T1. I was so bummed when I thought I wasnβt going to be able to grow for a while. This hobby, the people here, and the people I share my mushies with all have a special place in my heart. So glad I can still hang with yβall

Confession time I fucked up lol well I actually got REALLY lucky that I didn't blow up my pressure cooker!
So... I pasteurize my coir in an old pressure cooker that needs a new seal. I kind of have my own little tek I do. I put the brick in the PC and slowly pour boiling water over it removing the hydrated coir as I go so I don't have to worry about the middle of the brick not getting water. I place the lid back on and pet it do its thing. If the heat ever goes too low while pasteurizing ill turn the burner on high for 5 min or less then turn it back off. Or if my coir is ever over field compacity ill turn the burner on and let it stem dry for a little bit.
I was pasteurizing my coir this way yesterday and and it was pretty much done but just to make sure the temp didn't drop to much while I left the house I turned the burner on high. Well apparently I never turned it back off! I came home 3 HOURS later to the house smelling like like I was smoking meat or something over wood chips. I went in the kitchen and apparently God was looking after me bc after 3 hours on high the psi was only at 15! I couldn't believe it. Why it didn't go higher and explode is beyond me!
Anyways... My question is- my coir is obviously now sterilized instead of pasteurized should I just pitch it? I don't mind losing a couple bucks and starting over if there is any chance that it won't work as good. I have some very nice spawn going into it and i don't want to chance ruining it... What's everyone thoughts ??

I would lay on a tarp for a few days then properly pasteurize

I confess, you know it's going to be a good trip when it starts kicking in and you hear early Cuyler from squidbillies in your head.

It started with Early Cuyler shouting "whew baaabyyy" in my head, hopefully it's an indication of what's to come.

Yea... Idk if u wanna chance it. its not like coir is expensive. I don't have a tarp or a place to put one for days. Plus its been raining a lot. My time is money and I don't think I got time for all that lol. I guess I was just asking if sterilized coir would be ok.

Iβm pretty sure bods bucket tek sterilizes the coir because itβs boiling water in an insulated cooler. I use that all of the time and I know it gets over the 170 mark

Generally, yes. It doesnt really matter much with coir. Typically with sterilized substrate you've gotta spawn in laminar flow or in a sab but coir is pretty contam resistant
