I inoculate with a jar of grain. So I omit mixing uncolonized grain before sterilizing. But it's the same technique basically. sterilize a substrate in a bag. Then inoculate with whatever
Here's another guy that grows in bags. Start to finish. This is where I learned about it prior to bosley doing it. This guy doesn't sterilize his coir though. Just bags it up. And inoculates it.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14743475
when you sterilize your coir how long do you go for in the pc? I read the bottle tek and the baggin with bosely but he didnβt say and the bottle tek was with jars.
How do you seal your bags? Iβm guessing you seal them in/after PC then open them to put your grains in then you zip tie them for colonization?
Im going to try this out.
I load the coir into the bag. Then fold it over and down like you normally would. Then I just use a piece of tape to tape down the fold. Then I load my PC with the folded up bags of coir.

Then wait for the PC to get to atmospheric 0 and I usually let it cool completely. But I've takes them out hot too. Dont think it really matters
Oh and I've sterilized for an hour. But I think that was wayyyyy over kill. This batch I sterilized for 30mins and its performing the same as the 60min cook time.
The coir really doent need sterilizing. but when your trying to troubleshoot it helps me to know for certain that it's not my substrate thsts causing the issue. If you use a jar with a hidden contam. It will show up in the bag.

I'm kinda at a point where giving up on it all is seeming like a solid option since I just keep throwing money at things with fucking awful results.
I feel your pain, been there. Reminds me when I moved into my new house. Old place was a dust mold bomb and I had little issues. So when I got to the new place I thought it would be easy street because it was clean and more modern. Boy was I wrong. I pretty much got it under control months ago but I make sure I change my towel in my SAB and clean it real good every month. I have a rather roomy SAB so there is plenty of room for shit to hide in if not maintained. I always mist it before hand, close the curtain then wait 10 minutes before working. Banned the cats from the room when doing SAB work as well. I rub hand lotion up to my elbows via bods suggestion to keep flakey skin and other shit on my arms. Problem solved for me. As others have said just tighten up your technique and avoid shortcuts until you notice a difference. I felt like giving up when 10% failure went right up to 60% but I got stubborn and pushed through because TC's always say ambient spore load shouldn't be a issue.

@ShaperDreaming
I confess I have felt the same in the past, especially from a long run of failures... sometimes you have to step away for a minute and really take in what you've experienced...sometimes the absence sparks new ideas and discoveries that will lead to future success...in short...don't give up completely! Be free to take a pause, but you'll never lose the will...cultivators for life!

I confess that I really messed up, I started pasteurization of some coir in my outside rig, I forgot about it and came back to a near fire 3 hours later, thank goodness it wasn't the pressure cooker, the heat was pretty high.

It could be the new place, but also spring has a pretty high spore load in most places. All those decayed things under the snow get uncovered and stay damp with rising temps... fungi and molds be gettin busy!
Hang in there shaper dreamer. Maybe keep things more controlled and under wraps for a while ... Try TomBosleyβs bag Tek or motherfuckers bottle Tek...

Thanks ya'll. It's good to know that it may just be the season. It's been a rough few months and for a while there mycology was a good focus for me when I needed a good distraction. It's still frustrating that I'm kinda spinning my wheels with a 20%-40% contam rate, I guess I could start thinking of ways to improve my sterile technique, though it's pretty challenging w/o spending a lot of money at this point.
I confess, I almost fucking ate an eighth last night because I was really feeling the need for a reset. . . Unfortunately that would have really hampered me from an intense work week, so I decided against it last minute. I really need to do some work tho.
