Bumholio said: I confess I just knocked over a stack of plates while pouring. 14 of the cunts (saved 6).

FUCK man, that sucks. I was opening a plate to transfer from the other night and when I grabbed it I didn't grab the bottom well enough and *PLOP* if fell right out, flipped over and landed on the rim of one of my jars... I said fuck it and transferred anyways, avoiding the part that hit the jar... sigh.
Whelp... mold :'( Sad day. Woke up this morning to some green colonized grains.
Learning moment of this story. Only the jars with agar from this plate I dropped went green. That means I had jars covered in mold spores (the agar landed on the rim of a jar) sitting in my SAB and I successfully did all my work still w/o contam. I knew when I transferred this particular plate that it was a toss-up of what would happen (even avoiding the affected areas of agar), and this was for sure a possibility, but knowing I had mold-spore-covered jars up in my SAB without issues showed me how damn amazing these things are for mycology.
I confess, I had less faith in my SAB before I had this contam issue.
I'm in the same boat, I recently put some agar to grain that looked clean and now 3 jars have trich sadly

Epic noob fail: First SGFC. One of my cakes fruited 2-3 days before the others and so when that cake dropped spores before the others all I saw was black looking stuff all over that cake. Without really thinking about it I said “lost one to mold” and threw out the whole cake, mushrooms still attached. The worst part was the fruits on that cake were probably the best looking and biggest ones of all the cakes that batch
Also want to note that SGFC was located in the trunk of my car- and I drove everywhere with a schedule 1 substance growing in my trunk for an entire summer.

hot damn, took a mere 2 dried grams of cubes yesterday and I was out of my mind. Ended up just laying in my lawn for what must have been a while lost in reverie, when I finally come to one of my hens is right next to me looking veryy concerned and making weird noises.
some of the best visuals I've ever had. Just staring at tall grass as it morphs into various things

I confess, I have not used a torch or any heat source to flame my blade, I have been using 91% iso alcohol and have not had any issues for several months now since doing so.

It's way easier and faster than using a torch or alcohol burner and I always have a paper towel soaked to wipe the jars anyway, so, I tried and haven't looked back since.

I’m going to give that a try just to see how it works for me. I usually torch my blade between each transfer. Definitley going to try this at least once.

i am fascinated. this is using an alcohol rag/mop/something to wipe the blade, or dipping the blade in an alcohol filled vessel?
