I hear similar requests for spore free mush, and have done less towards appeasing them as I have gone further. This is why I have been looking towards APE and RW. Personally I am waiting for seasonable weather and maybe a new crib/lab to make some tea/gummies and go on an adventure. That said I have little desire to make black sporey tea lol.

FUCK man, that sucks. I was opening a plate to transfer from the other night and when I grabbed it I didn't grab the bottom well enough and *PLOP* if fell right out, flipped over and landed on the rim of one of my jars... I said fuck it and transferred anyways, avoiding the part that hit the jar... sigh.

Last time I poured some plates, I grabbed the lid and poured only to realize I grabbed the whole plate and poured agar on to the lid of the one below.

fuck this day, indeed.
my people, i came within a cunt hair of burning my house to the ground. it relates to a careless decision to alter the control scheme in my grow tent, and a subsequent failure to be mindful of the implications of that decision. this literally resulted in a partial meltdown before the heating element failed, and i was spared a lifetime of regret, and probable jail time.

ok then. for posterity. heating mechanism was an electric heating element in a bucket of water. temp controller was configured to maintain air temp in the tent at around 24C. thermometer in the water indicated a max temp of around 160F. a little over 70C. this setup was working splendidly for several weeks.
for unimportant reasons, i decided to set the temp controller to maintain the water temp at 60C. all good, until i failed to ensure the probe was submerged after topping up the bucket this morning. so the controller was trying to heat the air to 60C. that's 140F for the non metric crowd. i didn't get to witness the real time effects, but i bet the water came to a full boil before running dry, melting the bucket, the plastic cover with the fan on top, and the nylon rope acting as a wick to raise humidity. if the element hadn't failed, the plastic cover would have melted all the way down, hit the element and ignited. at which point, jack is superfucked.
by the time i got to see it, thermometer in the air was reading 98F. controller was reading 39C. (102F) the lone tray in the tent was smelling strongly, strangely. and the caps all turned dark. it's in the middle of a developing flush, so we'll see how well it recovers from being cooked in a steam chamber designed by a dumbshit who deserved much worse than he got.
mr. piggy, i'd love to. but what's COBS?

Hmm. Yeah seems like systems like that depend on stasis of one variable or another. Sounds like letting a pressure cooker run dry. If this were a consumer grade "set and forget" system a microcontroller could be used to monitor current draw with the heater run through a relay and a current sensing circuit in order to detect the fact that the heater was in a run-away state. But who would think to do that . Glad things didn't turn out to badly, seemingly.

I confess that tonight I tried to pour agar at 122F with the intent to limit condensation but took to long to pour so it came out chunky:

Then I shook the agar jar outside the SAB hoping to disperse the temperature evenly and break up the chunks.. It worked, but this was the result:

Air bubbles in my agar dishes, some more than others. I only poured 9 dishes tonight so its not the end of the world but IDK if I should expect adverse growth or not.

thanks. You dry the grain thoroughly like you normally would?
Gr0wer did a write-up on this method and said you didn't need to dry them much is why I ask, just curious how you do it.
50 lbs at once? Hot damn, thats a lotta bags. Can't wait to get my hood going, saving up the cash then I'm finally pullin the trigger

Yeah man you can load wet just depends on how hydrated you get them during the soak ... I will load wet most of the time but I will soak them for less hours... I check throughout the day and squeeze ...
I confess I run alot of jars and bags both Haha before my vaca I was doing 200 or more pounds of grain per week
