Congratulations Confessor Crew.... We hit page 800!

If you are one of the folks who posted in the past 5 pages (795 - 800) and you'd like a spore print send me a PM with your addy. I have not run a contest in a long while so it is the least I can do.
Thank you for your confessions and contributions to the community.

I NEED MORE SPACE
I imagine you kind of like a squirrel digging through the ground looking for nuts.
I have finally settled on where I'm going to put my main mycology closet situation, and it's going to require a lot more work than I wanted to do, but I'LL FUCKING DO IT.

Woot! Thanks for the offer, pretty sure you just sent me something anyways, not going to be greedy! I guess you're holding true on your contest, we just never knew it was reaching page 800
EDIT! I forgot to confess!
I confess, last night I remembered that I haven't touched my petris for almost a month and almost all my plates are fully colonized and starting to get cramped in there. I have work to do this weekend.

Mushrooms are pretty smart to have found an animal capable of spreading their species so wide and far.

I confess that i lurk this thread and hesitate to post any confessions. Forgive me Father..
I do however confess that this hobby seems to make me a dull person. By that i mean that I know its not a great idea to tell everyone about my little closet of dreams, so when its the only thing on my mind and the mycelium has colonized my brain, I stay quiet and probably seem like a dull person. But Im happy with my ventures.

The drive and dedication they instill in the cultivator is another proof of this. And that passion began shortly after my first encounter with the mushroom, and has only grown with me over the years.Even during my 13 yr "break" while I was doing the family man the urge was always there. I always like to say who's growing who?

I feel you Moonraker it sucks having to keep quiet about it but it's well worth it. The struggle is real.

So... I started growing edible gourmets just so that I could talk about all my shit w/o anyone being any wiser to the fact that I'm growing active mushrooms. Once people think you're growing things similar to like tomatoes or kale they kinda just glaze over and let you chat. I just tell people flat out "Yeah, i've been learning how to grow mushrooms and it's tough stuff." If people's eyes bug out I'm like "not MAGIC ones, just like, the stuff you buy in the store, but more varieties"
No one really cares if you're growing food.
I'm such a bad liar that I have to get my story straight internally before I can even talk to people if I know I'm going to have to lie.
Like, I couldn't even come up with reasons for what I was asking for shit at feed stores for. I'd be like "Do you have rye berries? Not seed?" Them: "What you gonna use them for" My brain: "SAY CHICKENS OR SOMETHING DON'T SAY MUSHROOMS YOU FOOL!" Me: "Uhm, you know, mushrooms, I am hoping to sell to restaraunts!" Them: "Ah, ok, makes sense, then you'll probably want these..."
Give it a whirl!

So true. Hopefully the path to legalizing is short and we can all come out of the dark soon. Then we can watch all our friends' eyes glaze over in boredom as we ramble on about grain prep, troublesome cultures, or our latest variety that they won't see for months.

I mean, I got a very small circle I share with, but they're much more interested in size, colors, variety backstory, that kinda stuff which is still fun to jaw jack about.
Anything process related seems to bore them, unless it's something like, "this new thing should be harvested in about a week".

I confess I had my first trich outbreak and it hurts a little. Went to check on some boxes thinking they would have pins soon and they had pins but there was also green spots and recently I decided to not keep anything off looking. Well 11 boxes went into the compost. With the weather looking up maybe I'll get some fruits out there? Be kinda cool to clone and keep an "outdoor cube" going. Im not sure what caused the outbreak but me thinks it was my egarness to use up my verm. I had tested adding it straight out of the bag to get my feild capacity perfect for spawning and it worked so I kept doing it. I added it to oats before loading them in jars could be that. I also had a narly tub last week that I had tried to save. When i opened it in my grow room it was bad bad so maybe that is it. I also have been using less spawn to sub like 1:3 / 1:4 so maybe its that. Gonna let some stuff finish up and then bust out the bleach. Im finnaly ready to start over and actually follow some teks and get organized so i can learn to be a proper mycologist and not just a redneck growing shrooms. I also confess I'm excited to start back at page one. I always enjoy a book more the second time I read it.

I go to grain as soon as I see a "clean" transfer. Sometimes it only takes one. I don't really find the difference between first clean transfer and aiming for something more "isolated" to be worth it. When I do go to grain I often transfer to agar too with a small part. I've yet to find that the fruit difference is significant between transfer two and transfer 7 (as far as I've isolated). Sometimes things carry hidden contam though, that is when I find the transfer I kept going on agar to be helpful.

i confess that i just spent a week or so on Maui and am bound and determined to find some natural magic in the cow fields around Hana, clone the sucker, stabalize some bad ass genetics and spread the Hana Aloha around the world. That place has some incredible energy. Didn't find anything this time but I'll be back and know where to look.

Please do!
Cubensis isn't native to the island (obviously) so it would be interesting to have a strain that has had some wild generations in that tropical paradise

i confess that i pour plates and don't do anything with them for a few months quite regularly. gladly they last forever. How long did they sit? I'm doing a test right now to see how long a thick pour vs a thin pour last. Not Inoculated, sitting on the shelf at room temp, and double wrapped in glad. I think they are six months now and looking fine (last i checked..... about two weeks ago).
