I wired a little pot light above my SAB. I'm loving life today! Should have done it months ago.

U gotta have feed stores in your area man. Find whole oats or whole wheat intended as animal feed, it's hella cheap you should be able to get 50lbs for $10-$15.
If you don't, it still could be worth a drive to stock up

Yeah that or Walmart has Penningtons Classic Wild Bird Seed. They have 50lb bags usually this time of year. Soon theyll go back to being 40lb bags. For 15$ has almost no corn In it. It's good shit as far as wbs goes for as grain spawn

Iโve been using the 40lb bags. You usually lose about 25% of your overall weight after you get rid of all the sunflower seeds but itโs still the easiest and quickest to use imo. But Iโm hoping to try oats for my next batches due to pricing

I confess that I thought we determined it was unnecessary to scoop out the sunflower seeds

I read they have poor water retention, plus itโs easier/quicker for me rinse when I scoop them from the top of the bucket. Main 2 reasons I take them out. I usually have a dozen or so Iโm too lazy to fish for so I know theyโre fine. I just rather keep my water retention as high as possible.

Yeah it's just easier...they mostly pour out after your first rinse. If u rinse. But yesh I dont go crazy with it. And you do loose about 10lbs of sunflower seeds if you separate all of them from a 50# bag.

I confess, I've poured plates twice in 2 days, and used every one of them! I've got 85 lbs of supplemented sawdust innocultated with a pound or so grain each (so really about 100 lbs of substrate) of different gourmet mushrooms, 10 quart jars, and 4-5qt bags colonizing grain, 6 bootboxes, 8 shoeboxes, 1- 30qt and one 70qt tub... in a closet... and an experiment in another closet... been busting ass tearing slats off the walls in the electrical room to insulate and get some drywall up, after opening up the wall adjacent the house and framing an entry way/step down for laundry... I NEED MORE SPACE

Personally I dont like PP oats. A bunch of ppl I know including myself get mixed results with them. Theyll probably work for ya but if u start buying more I'd check the PP bags before ya buy them. Sometimes the quality is good. Sometimes its shit. Just be mindful of them is all. The hull being separated from the oat is no good. If u see a lot of it
