In the interest (my interest) of the failed PC conversation. Are you 100% sure they are cast. Could they be, as a lot of pots are, pressed and spun?

And if so, would that composition/ manufacture lend a higher strength?

i presume they're cast because of the bayonet locking style. you are correct that i could be wrong there. looked quick for how the mirro is made, but found nothing. i admit ignorance, but reckon a spun vessel would be at least somewhat stronger, but would experience a great deal of work hardening in the process. doesn't reduce ultimate strength, but guarantees a brittle failure. i.e. burst. in that case, the high heat is what allowed it to balloon out. tbh, it makes me question everything, the fact that the thing didn't crack when it was basically hammered back into shape. in any case, it's that cold forming of the deformed aluminum which makes me shudder at the thought of continuing to use it.

juniperus, i'll post a link to a mechimat textbook later on, and point to the three pages about pressure vessels. the idealized equation looks like, sigma1(principal tensile stress, psi)=(pressure, psi)*(vessel radius, inches)/(wall thickness, inches) = 15*6/.25 = 360psi

this morning's confession, i'm super compelled to skip work and hang out in my grow room. my galindoi pins are really popping up. the excitement is annoying. =D

I confess, I've figured it out.

For me the draw to mycology and growing is the anticipation. My favorite times are right after I've inoculated bottles, transfered cultures on agar or swiped a Spore print.

That being said, the other half of the equation is the feeling when I succeed because of hard work and learning. I feel like a :werewolf:

That was actually the last of my oats. Thinking about trying millet again. I just hated the way it smells and found it tricky to get the water right. Oats are cheap and easy in my area but im not sold on any grain yet. Still testing. Bird seed is cheaper. Gonna go to a feed and seed for farmers sunday to see what they got.

Bird seed is cheaper than oats, wuts a 50lb bag of oats cost. I pay about 12$ for 50lb, cant find a cheaper grain than that.

I've been sifting the corn and sunflower seeds from WBS  (chickens appreciate it) and using the millet/milo mix for pint masters... did a test jar prepping simple as hell, and they came out a little dry... I'm thinking i can nail a no prep grain master mix
:snoopyes:

$15 gets me 50 lbs of oats, or 60 lbs of WBS... I like the growth on oats a LOT better... haven't done any real testing (though I may now)but I feel like oats fluff a lot larger, and likely gives nearly the same number of hydrated qts... hmmm... will likely try others eventually

Wbs is more expensive than oats around here. Never Really liked either of them personally

Yea the only wbs that didn't turn to a starchy mess from all the freaking corn costs 13$ for 30lb around me. Oats is still my go to, it's hard to mess it up.
