Got any MP tape laying around. I had good success with converting old PF tek lids to grain lids by using 3 layers of MP tape over the inoculation holes. MP tape + tyvek would have been better, but I didn't have any . Hey, it's not ideal but it worked for about two dozen jars I tried it on. Small sample size, but I did see Pasty said it could work...
This is the the how i do my grain jar lids! 2 layers of MP tape works well

It is anything but autopilot with those guys. If rye was even just double the price, I'd say bye forever to oats. Rye I can confidently prepare and use, no problem.
I could never seem to get my oats dry enough. I started cooking less and less, down to 20 minutes but then it seemed like my jars would stall out and was told they were too dry. Last very large batch of oats I did, I was so tired, I sat on the couch and forgot about them until most of the water was boiled out. Quite a few grains had burst but not mushy for sure. I dried them for 24 hours in front of the wood stove with fans going and pc’d them anyway. Despite all my doubts, I am pretty sure these are the nicest jars I’ve ever done. I used some for G2G and some with A2G and a couple syringe to grain. Everyone of them are doing well so far. It is not a recommended tek I’m suggesting but I learned something valuable in my mistake.

With a method I saw gr0wer post he never simmered/boiled, just soaked any feed grain for 16-24 hours or so and then strained and loaded it up without drying.
I still have yet to try it as I'm not doing grains atm but I trust the results of someone who grows gourmet for cash.
Let me nip some naysayers in the bud and say yes it is a method that takes longer than boiling. No shit.

sorry to double post but surely you've seen pastywhytes ez-lid tek? aka just using unmodified plastic lids.
I used them on grains for a while because I also didn't have enough lids made up with filters and it worked fine.

I confess that I dump my oats in the sink to cool and drain, it's way less hassle.

I got a plastic colander (from the Asian food store that I get my agar from) for $5.99 and its big enough to fit a person inside! I was so excited when I found it! Seriously tho it could fit a whole 50 pound grain bag at once! Probably more

I looked all over the net for that one and cannot seem to find it, found some that are similar but they are way to small. Do you know what company makes those colanders? Just the thought of flipping grains like stir fry gets my all excited.

That looks like the arachnid cage I used to have in middle school. Never thought about using it for drying grain.

Than a colander?
It would have to be a big ass colander to hold all my grain, I make up 40-50 jars a run.

So my confession is I have been reading shroomery for about 5 years now and just started my growing journey. I started with agar but nothing grew at all (including bacteria, so i guess i have a sterile procedure down) for about 2 months I waited. So I dropped my agar content in my recipe to 1.5 grams per 8 pastyplates so fingers crossed they germinate I have been using MS syringes so that might be a problem as well .

patience. starting a small grain jar may help you germinate something if you continue to struggle, high nute plates also help
