Allenii is a wood lover that used to be called cyanfriscoa (spelt something like that) it occurs naturally in the PNW, supposed to be decently potent. Outdoor cultivation has been successful but I want to try indoors since i like the challenge

Wikipedia:
"Psilocybe allenii is a species of agaric fungus in the family Hymenogastraceae. Described as new to science in 2012, it is named after John W. Allen, who provided the type collection. It is found in the northwestern North America from Los Angeles, California to British Columbia, Canada, most commonly within 10 miles (16 km) of the Pacific coast.
The fruitbodies (mushrooms) grow on rotting wood, especially wood chips used in garden landscaping. The caps of the mushrooms are brown to buff, broadly convex to flattened and have a diameter up to 9 cm (3.5 in), while the white stipes are up to 9 cm (3.5 in) long and 0.7 cm (0.3 in) thick. As a bluing species in the genus Psilocybe, P. allenii contains the psychoactive compounds psilocin and psilocybin, and it is consumed recreationally for its hallucinogenic properties. It is closely related to Psilocybe cyanescens, from which it differs macroscopically by the lack of a wavy cap margin."

Allenii is a species within the genus psilocybe. Not a variety of cube

Im not sure i snagged that pic from Wikipedia, haha in my 7 years of hunting ive yet to find any magic ones in my local area. Granted ive been looking for what I presume is an extinct species mainly although my cyan expeditions have also yielded nothing so far

Yes, yes it is... It just barely squeaked out of the species Psilocybe Cyanescens...
I confess that: When I was a young buck harvesting Psilocybe Cyanescens in Golden Gate Park and other green belts around the city... I used to confuse the two. However, that was before science had differentiated them so I was in the good company of professional mycologist who were also confusing the two at the time.

Haha that would be interesting to see how close there dna is to each other.
I confess ive spent 7 years searching for a species of mushroom ive only heard about. I can't find any literature or website info about this species and i dont even know the name. All I know is that back in the 70's it used to grow all over my local area in cow fields and grass pastures. It was really small (only about mabye an inch tall) was a dark brown and had a purple ring under the cap. Apparently everyone used to pick them and the city attempted to eradicate them and i havnt seen any in all my years of searching. The only name they were called are brown bullets or psilocybes. I'm determined to find them and take prints and get them identified

That sounds a bit like a Panaeolus Subalterous / cinctulus to me...
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panaeolus_cinctulus
I hope I’m right - it would be great to help you in your quest. They have a wide distribution but maybe if you told us the state your city was in we could help you more...
Also by purple ring do you mean on the stipe or on the cap? On the stipe could be a persistent annulus or remnant and the purple could be spore build up.

My bad, around Olympia Washington and the purple ring was on the stem just under the cap, they were definitely an active species

That seems close but I don't think they ever got that tall, from what I've been told they were only about an inch tall and the cap was only about a 1/4 inch mabye 1/2 inch wide, sort bullet/ bell shaped cap
