Gotta make a bunch of culture slants and I lost my little rack that keeps the tubes at perfect angle while they are cooling. Not feeling very McGuyver tonight....don't know what I'm gonna do.

I like to use a cutting board propped up on a plate or small bowl, seems to work good for slants

Thanks man. A cutting board on two petries is giving me a pretty good angle.

Okay... I'm just gonna say it....
I confess...
I dont even wash my WBS I just strain it after my simmer... And I dont let it dry for more then 30 minutes. Works with the same pace as over cautious methods imho and in my set up that I've been doing in the past
Aint no body got time for all dat labor.

Cheeky Monkey... I have not heard that since I lived in South Australia.
Growlingmycelium... good confession. There is a lot of dogma out there on the Shroomery, it should be exposed now and then. Most of the long standing teks have a solid basis for them but there are many ways to do it right.

I'd like to see your jars: likely some bacteria present... I prepped WBS pretty much the same way, and after nailing them a few times and seeing a clean culture on the grain, I realized most of my jars had been slightly bacterial IMO... hard to avoid, but even slight over-saturation can exacerbate the issue... thankfully, bacteria isn't the end of the world in most cases
Changing your mind... lol

I confess in my haste to get to sleep i cut the heat on the pc 10 min shy of the 2 hour mark. I told myself its just millet and some growers only do 90 min anyway. Cutting corners is a slipery slope folks keep yourselves in check out there.

I think you'll be OK. Back when I first started doing this. I was shooting spores into jars of wbs that had only been sterilized for an hour. And it worked. I dont recommend it knowing what I know now. But I was making it work.

Im sure it will be fine also. I added some weight to my pc to make it run at 18psi so 10 min shouldnt matter much. I also confess this is the first time myco stuff is feeling like something i have to do instead of something i want to do aka work. I stayed up late so i could wake up early to do these jars/transfers then at the same time working doubles cause half the crew is sick at my job. 😔 For real in the time i took to write this then proof read it my kratom/coffee kicked in and im fucking pumped!!!! Now i wish i woke up early enough to pour some plates for tommorow.😋

I have been doing my agar/grain work in a dirty SAB on top of a dirty woodworking bench. My success rate is way up, and that's just because my sterile technique is ever-improving. Work on your technique, don't sweat the small stuff, it will save you a lot of time and effort.

I am getting like half my petris contamed with something. I focus on my sterile technique and have read and do all of the suggestions. I just make twice what I actually need to make sure there will be enough. I kind of want a flow hood. Maybe I am wrong, but SABs are borderline not a great place to pour plates and do transfers. I have great success with G2G. Just agar work that gets me.
