So I decided to give oats another try using eats tek. Gathered my oats set them on the stove. In my PC I started boiling water. Everything looked fine...at first.
Then a gateway to HELL opened up in the oats and all kinds of nasty bugs started coming out of them. The hair on my head is still standing up straight. There were hundreds of bugs.
Fuck oats.

Oh shit! What brand? Producers pride seems pretty good in my limited experience... what do you typically use?

IF you have a hard time getting good grains close, well I found 50 pound bags of both red and white hard wheat, for under $26 shipped, off eBay. I found them just last night. If you have to drive 2 hours to get grains, then the cost of gas and your time easily pays for a $26 bag of grains shipped to your door for free.
Also I have had weevils in my wheat, which comes from the local coop as feed. I just rinse it and they mostly rinse away. I have found a few meal worms as well, even after cooking the grain. I will not lie, I started using a few drops of Dawn Dish soap when rinsing my grains. It seams to help more fine particles rinse away.

One night the wife and I laid on the trampoline out back and watched what can only be described as a bio-luminescent bird fly around above our back yard. I was jokingly calling it a fairy, but its movements reminded me of a barn swallow, but the fucking thing was lit up green, and we BOTH were fucking watching it for like 20 min.

Finally got 20 CVG 1:1 B+ Shoe-boxes in fruit, a mono GT, and another bigger shoebox B+
Transferd my RW agar today to two more plates for the second transfer, and two GT plates from MS to 3rd transfer. Looking pretty promising. Some pics soon

Fuck oats.
makes the skin crawl, the way you describe it. like a cheesy horror flick.
bod's oat prep includes a tip for dealing with bugs in oats, or any grain for that matter. mixing some diatomaceous earth in with them will kill the bugs, without poisoning the oats for our purposes. cheap stuff.
edit: fuck, this is the confession thread... so yesterday i got zero myco work done. spent the entire day replacing my tub/shower drain. <rant> i want the head of the plumber who installed the last one brought to me on a flaming wooden staff. fucking retard left a four foot run of drain pipe with a positive slope toward the main stack. WATER DOESN'T DRAIN UPHILL YA FUCKIN CUNT!</rant> the godawfulness of what came outta that pipe is best left to the imagination.
edit edit: please forgive my language. professional incompetence is a major pet peeve of mine.

Fuck oats.
Put diatomaceous earth in the bag and use them just the same. Like Leftfield420 said mycelium will colonize those little fuckers. In a newbie frenzy I tossed about 40lbs of oats about a yr and a half or so ago not realizing they could be salvaged. Pain in the ass but at least not a total loss

It's time my friends

report back when I land
So I've had a few days to digest this experience. I ate 2 big boomers out of the mixed bag. I thought 2 would be a good dose as I haven't tripped balls for years now and the person that grew them told me to "only eat 1 big one, they're intense" I figured doubling his rec would be a good place to start
I'm not sure if it's due to them being dry, most of the caps are ink black/blue color, or that the woodlovers lose alarge amount of potency in storage? Not sure, either way it was a disappointment. After a little over an hour the warm fuzziness washed over my body and I buckled up, ready for blast off. Never happened. The body load became increasingly intense to the point I felt drunk, coordination and overall motor skill struggles. About 3 hours in I got extremely tired, I rode it out for another hour in hopes of some visuals but, they were a no show for this adventure. I then decided to just take my happy but disappointed ass to sleep.
Extremely surprised by the lack of visuals, even the CEV's were basically non existent. I've gotten more recently from -1 gram cubensis micro doses. At this point I have no more interest in dried mushrooms, my experience has shown me time and time again that fresh boomers hit way harder and to me feel like less body load with a more visual experience.

Youβre getting shitty mushrooms. Black sounds like they were dried improperly and may have putrefied. Could definitely see a loss in potency if that is indeed the case.

And another confession....
I think I may have a spore germinating problem/addiction.
Currently on agar or grain:
CUBENSIS: PesaBoner, Taman Negara, Cambodian, PEU, PE, APE, PFredspore, Texas Orange Cap, RustyWhyte, Ban Hua Thanon, Tidal Wave, Huaulta and Oak Ridge
Woodlovers: Serbica, Cyans, Azzies & Allenii
Others: ATL #7 and Pan Cyan Alabama
I'm gonna get some Ovoids going or try to at least and take a break from germinating anything else for a little bit.....that's what I'm telling myself anyways
