Social Media is too broad of a term for what we have going on here. This is an old fashioned Bulletin Board - almost pre-social media. That being said, reading it in real time and waiting on the next post isn't necessarily the best way to read/experience this.

The knowledge and experience is in the older posts where you can cover days/weeks/months in minutes. Today's posts are the sugary sprinkles on top of this cake. Sweet and exciting but not necessarily good for you.

I'm also guilty of all the same things y'all mentioned.. checking my threads too often and hoping someone has something to say about my posts, etc.

... somehow, some way
Keep comin' up with funky-ass shit, like, every single day...

It's just a pitfall of the experience.

...I dont want it - I just need it!...
:mjk2:

yep, that was snoop and tool references back to back! lol :jah:

And last but not least, cheerleading mediocracy. everyone needs a trophy here too? This wasn't a reply to anyone's post here, just a rant. I know I haven't been here long, and I'm very grateful for this place, and that's why I feel I should say something, before giving up on it. Guess ive come to realize I'm not meant for social media. This was my first encounter with it.lol.

Totally get what you're saying but I'm also guilty. Especially late at night when I'm fucked up. I have 10 or so favorite threads that I like to check in on but if I miss a day of two I don't even wanna look cause I'll have 30 pages to get caught up on. Not so sure what can change, most of us are pretty good at cultivating so the chances of us seeing something "new and exciting" are diminishing. Most of the time I'm here for comradery, laughs, and mush porn. I don't do any form of social media anymore this is my home. :shrug:

I've wrecked 4 times. Twice intoxicated. 2 times other vehicles involved. Nobody was ever hurt. I drive less these days.

I confess, I’m curious as to how much sterilite makes off of mushroom cultivators alone. Also eco earth...

I bet we’re a good portion of their profits :lol:

Eco earth maybe, but just about every house in America has a few tubs for storage.

I confess I'm eating too much take-out and frozen meals.
It's been hard to cook, the stove is always occupied with a pressure cooker or there's a giant pot of grains soaking in my way.

<counterrant>
i confess... i don't know why i come here. i mean, try and participate. i never enrolled in any social media, and only regularly contributed to one other online forum specific to my motorcycle. have never owned a "smartphone" or pocket computer as i call it. memes annoy the piss outta me. i don't even own a fucking television. fb is the mothafuckin devil.

i first came here to learn to do something which turned out to save my life. naturally, i'm grateful for that. returning after a few years, the vibes are different. many of the familiar faces from back then earned themselves TC tags and became board mods. others disappeared like i did. still others checked outta this life, may they peacefully rest. and something else... i don't notice much in the way of all out dick-measuring/pissing contests anymore. there was much flaming in mushcult back then. didn't feel like we were all on the same team. more like, strangers with vaguely aligned interests.

i guess i'd rather see some mediocre cheerleading. now we have threads dedicated to specific generalities like copelandias or woodlovers or stone producers, collecting data in one spot. it's always difficult to sort through stuff, tho. so if someone asks a question you just answered for yourself by reading through pages and pages of irrelevant nonsense, so fucking what if you try to answer from reading rather than experience? i've had several recent questions go unanswered entirely. c'est la vie.
</counterrant>

also, i confess: i entertained a nice lady last evening. dinner and shenanigans. but the whole time she was here, i couldn't think of much else than myco stuff. it's an addiction, i tell ya. a sweet, sweet addiction.

I confess again... I think I may take a break from cultivating soon after all my tubs, jars, and plates are done. May be a few months or more, but I feel I have enough Gus to last me a Stone Age. Kinda getting tired of doing so much work after I get off work...

It will be nice to enjoy other things once I take a break. Not saying that I don’t now, I just feel engulfed sometimes.

Maybe just slow it down a bit? Hate to lose ya, brother, you're doing good work. Go small scale and try some
exotics maybe :shrug:

Yeah.. I was thinking of trying some exotics or edibles sometime. I’m going to definitely slow down a bit at least. It’s not to much time, but I will probably take at least a month or two off in the spring/summer from any mycology work. We’ll see how that goes though.
