not myco, but one time i was in my buddies big commercial extraction lab (BIG) and they had hired this cute girl to work there who was pretty airheaded and probably shouldnt have been there

i was there to do some consulting on making "clear" ("solventless extracts" that are 90%+ thc) using various techniques (short path distillation, wiped film distillation, etc)

so this girl was taking a huge pyrex tray of finished super premium BHO (82% thc, 85% cannabinoids and delicious) out of the vacuum oven purge, and i warned her not to sit that hot pyrex on the cold steel countertop, but she just laughed and said  "i know what i am doing, pyrex is made for handling way more extreme temperatures than this"

at that moment the entire bottom half of the pyrex tray EXPLODED and about $10k worth of oil (WHOLESALE) shat out of onto everything, it was an absolute tragedy

id made the same mistake before, but never with anywhere near that kind of quality or quantity getting wasted

Omg... I'd be so pissed..

Anyways so I started growing 5-6years ago and my first time was absolutely amazing. B+ spores put directly on WBS. Then the best looking jar (most white) was g2gd. 7 quarts spawn to 1.5 bricks coir 8 quarts verm. Cased with PV. First flush 10 onions dry. Luck man. But since then I always start alot then begin to think if I'm even good at this and eventually I'll just stop. Soon after I'll pick back up and learn a whole bunch of new info. This happens like 2 times a year. I'm starting to get in that funk again. I just feel like I fucking suck at this.

I mean I get fruits but dammit.

one of the owners (the one im not friends with) said i was sexist for even asking if she was fired

so i guess we know who got the "im sorry" head

team full of highly skilled workers, and then this bitch... sticks out like a female inventor

@VH depends on what your goals are man. how long have you been working with agar? some of those cultures look pretty promising

dont expect to be incredible at everything your first time (or 10) doing it  you can actually learn a lot more from failure than you can from success, just gotta look at things the right way (think critically)

dont be discouraged by other people's results, whether they are from luck or skill, just see them as inspiration and try to learn from their successes and failures

get a clean, well organized culture on agar, then LI or a2g, then make a monotub(s) and i am sure you will be one of the guys making it look easy in a matter of weeks

persistence, practice, humility, and an open mind will get you a long way in this hobby

Keep in mind, more tubs = more practice, so you have to just keep at it. If I think something is causing my issue I test it. It's annoying a person has to stick with it through the learning curve. Taking breaks makes that curve take longer.

Beautiful looking plates... transfer to grains and then to bulk and impress us with your beautiful grows... but just a little suggestion. Wipe those plates down well with iso or lysol before storing or using them... IMO carpet is a spore magnet. I try never to have any around my lab or to let my myco stuff touch it.

My whole house minus kitchen and bathroom is carpeted  sucks.

I do wipe my plates down before use.

Jeez I wish I could. I have a problem I need to figure out. Confidence is one of them.

So I tossed my KSSS cultures tonight. I'm not 100% but I fear I was transferring mold instead of mycelium. There was defiantly something not right.

My wife doesn't mind,  so long as I sick to mostly edible grows.  1 or 2 trips a year doesn't bother her.

My bad, I generally use ISO, but sometimes I grab s fresh one of those germicidal wipes that are bleach based / I think Lysol produces one. That's what I meant.
