not to forget that mushrooms that haven't been fully dried carry water weight, and that bad storage can do the same.

For me, I am fully metric. I have no clue what an oz or an oz are. I kind of know what a mile is, and a pound. But I use inches and feet for rough measurements.

I confess my smart phone ate paint chips as a kid.
:hillbilly:

I confess I took a short (5 hour nap) 30 minutes before my PC cycle was done; my phone's alarm went off silently for 4.5 hours!!!! I even tested it to make sure it worked before I fell asleep.

I confess I have been cleaning hardened plastic and burnt grains out of my PC for the last hour. I confess no more naps.

Finally, I confess I almost cried when I found out my PC was not permanently damaged.

Lmao I'll have to edit my ShroomCubes recipe for you metric ShroomDudes. It's made for an ounce = 28.35 grams.

An 1/8th is what most people consider the "standard dose" for mushrooms, i.e., 3.5 grams. It's what I thought the minimum dose for effects were until growing myself. And I've heard it repeated many times since.

What I've come to realize, and will spread to friends whenever appropriate, is that 3.5g is not always 3.5g. As we know, not every set of mushrooms has the same potency, and I don't only mean like PE varieties or Pans or something. Even with domesticated and stable cube varieties, there's variance in potency. And people not involved in the hobby don't know this. I've eaten 1.75g (the dreaded half-eighth) and experienced decent OEV, which I rarely get from 3.5g. If someone used to the standard 8th got a hold of that, I can see them freaking out like they finally ate too much.

And more importantly, 3.5g as a "standard dose" isn't based on anything scientific at all. As if you could slap a label on something so subjective anyway, especially when a million different things go into how your trip will be.

An 1/8th is 1/8th of an ounce. That's it. It's the "standard dose" because it's easier for fools to sell, lol. Don't be afraid to tell your friends this, especially those new to the experience. There's nothing lame about baby steps with psychs. I'd rather have people be underwhelmed at 2g, but more prepared for the next one than someone being overwhelmed and freaked out at 3-4g.

Well put, at a barter faire early this year i gave a friend about an ounce and told him to get me 20$ when we get to town. I told him i didnt like these mushrooms. He said "Terrance McKenna told me to ask the mushrooms to be what you want them to be" i said, naw, it's,more than that. I dont like the genetics of these. He replied with "maybe they dont like being treated as a science" and he fucking got me there

I mean I understand what an 1/8 is. I know it's an 8th of an oz. But for some reason, most
of my mycology work is in metric. Grams, milliliters...even quart jars I think of as liters
because it's so close. I just can't visualize 1/8. I know that 28g is close to an oz. What
I consider a "standard" dose would be 2g. My minimum dose these days is 4g.

The only thing in my mind that's not metric is the stuff like sub depth. Still inches in my
mind.

And stare, the issue of potency has come up a lot lately. For whatever reason, all my shoebox
grows produce these beautiful canopies of...mini-fruits. But oh goddamn are those little
guys potent.

There's a decent amount of information out there on the psychoactive alkaloids stopping development early on in a mushrooms development, but I remember it being debated. But essentially, 10 small mushrooms that equal 3.5g are supposed to have more psilocybin/psilocin/whatever than say 2 big fruits at 1.75g each. Something to do with cell division stopping early (might be wrong on this) and cell expansion taking over (cells filling with water to make mushrooms bigger, but no additional alkaloidal growth).

My own personal experience is that yes, smaller mushrooms are more potent. I've tossed aborts, tiny fruits, and shake into a jar for a while and powdered the weight. Definitely a very, very strong trip.

I figure age has something to do with it too. Less of a breakdown in potency, and more of a moisture content thing. I've never bought them from someone who was keeping them in air tight containers...

Also, even in my airtight container I've noticed a difference between DRY and several days later dry. At least in the texture.

I confess I'm really happy with my new lab. Still have grow chambers and a dedicated fridge/freezer outside of here but now I have an entire room just for myco work or whatever I deem applicable. Flowhood on the horizon. I'm in a really happy place right now.

Same in my experience.
Almost always, for me,multiple smaller fruits are more potent than the same weight of large fruit.

I'm sitting here in a kick ass chair on a dedicated PC (not a pressure cooker) with my feet up next to my soon to be outdated SAB. Life is good!

To clarify my feet are not a contamination vector for my SAB.
