Use polypropylene plates and you rarely ever have to worry about shit like that. Only moldy agar discs in the trash

Could even compost em.

Like pasty plates, or do they make true petris that won't warp to shit in a cycle?

Yes, they do make those. They aren't nearly as easy to find, but they're out there. And cheaper than glass too.

Visibility is a lot better than pasty plates as well.

Yeah I'd have to drop an elbow!

@ lizard: my agar discs go in the toilet.  They flush nicely.

It's people close to you or someone you cut off telling on you,Haters that would be a concern. Dumpster diving is for PI's like magnum. Especially since multiple people use it. Now if it where to disappear then replaced with a new/different dumpster i would chill for a bit on the real.

I confess; I think all posters new and old have something to add or contribute. Just because you can or can not do something(Cultivate) doesn't make a person any better or worse of a human. We are all in this together and it's much easier when we act like it.

idiot confession:
Taking a hiatus for personal reasons, throwing plates away, tossed a bag in the apartment dumpster, trash got picked up, whew. Tossed another one- trash didn't get picked up when I thought it would, so I had a panic attack and took it from the dumpster and moved it to another one at a different address.

My suggestion is freeze your plates when you're done with them, just to stop growth. Then throw a handful into a bag, fast food bags work well and then throw them away at your local big box store. It gets all the evidence of anything illegal away from your location and separates you from them, as long as there is no identifying material in that bag you threw away then you should be just fine, relax.

He should even be fine if he wrote his name all over them, even with some cube pins in there, even if he dropped them in a clear trash bag, even if he dropped that bag off at the trash can in front of his local police station. Paranoia.

If you're so hot you gotta drive to throw stuff away, you shouldn't be driving with it.

For real, I just toss them in the trash now, the main reason I used to do that was because there were raccoons that would tip trash bins  over, mine and my neighbors, and scatter trash all over the street.

step 1. microwave till boiled to shit.
step 2. throw in trash.
Works with gourmet cultures and keeps people from getting sick if they mess with the nasty garbage plates. You guys are really paranoid!

In my work I meet a lot of people.  I’m also the type to walk up to a stranger in the street and start talking to them, so I meet a lot of people from all walks of life.  There is something to learn or take away from everyone.  You are so right!

I love where I live but unfortunately we don’t have any of the real good  mushies like that.  Lots of great edibles though.  Happy hunting!

Not 100% sure if this belongs here but I used 2 pints of oats to noc up two 2.5lb bags of oak/maple wood chips with p. azurescens about a month ago. Then today I dumped those two bags into a couple mounds of wood chips the county had left for people to take after they cleared the power lines, not sure if they will make it through winter. May have been a bad move on my part but I have to many projects going at the moment and don't have the time to devote to making my own outdoor bed this year.

Now when people take chips from the public pile they will inadvertently be spreading the azure. Cool. what part of the world do you live in. Just curious if they even have a chance in the first place(as far as climate).
