I confess, in my last sab sesh. I caught my gloves on fire twice. Then leaned into the torch and burt my hair...

Alcohol on the gloves then lit the torch? i keep waiting to do that:)

Luckily i shave my head..nothing to burn.

Well lesson learned  I have a bad habit of iso'ing my gloves then grabbing the lighter.. i'm gonna pryor myself eventually
No, the torch was going before i iso'd up i just wasnt paying attention, and rushing

This is partly why I don't bother with gloves. Proper hand washing is key.

I’d like to get a torch head that can ignight the torch. As for gloves, I like them because they give me better grip on my petridishes.

I, personally, don't like the texture--laytex or vinyl. I can also feel the stillness in my SAB. There's an immediate change when I pull them out.

Not sure where you’re from but they have self igniting torches all over.  I buy them at Canadian Tire (Canada) when they go on sale with tank for $22.  The igniter doesn’t last forever if you use it a lot but if just for mycology it should last a really long time.

I see.

My living space is old and regularly suffers from water damage. I've picked mushrooms out of the basement before, and there's the black mold. Quite a bit of it. I do my work in the non, water-damaged area, but there's still nasties.

I confess I snack on a few rye berries while they're drying. The first time I did it was to check for al dente but found out I kinda liked em! Just don't eat too many or you'll screw up your spawn ratio.
