I confess, I have reopened a few jars to rehydrate them straight out of the fosset!

I regret-
I used to collect wild reishi mushrooms to sell and trade. I had some left from the previous year. So I made a post on the marketplace. Made it clear that these were grade B leftovers, and I really just wanted to cover the shipping and make some storage room.
I was down to just the last scraps. Arranged a trade with a shroomery member who I had traded with in the past. He said he'd take whatever was left. About a month after we trade, he sends me a PM. When he went to make his extract, the reishi had bugs in it!!!!
Wish I had seen these RR posts sooner. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6640797#6640797 https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6658921#6658921
I still feel pretty shitty about it. That's the last time I tried to sell wild harvested fungi.

That is super gross, I read about something similar once. They collected field aged poo and forgot about it in a bucket and when they found it it was full of bugs. Idk if I could deal with that, I hate bugs. Suggestion for one of the future topics of the month: A time you blew off a friend or plans to do myco work.

Oh yeah, learned about that one with a room-temp dried Maitake... Found some powdery substance in the jar about 6 months later. Then found out the powder was alive. REALLY small bugs. I was just happy it was contained in the jar.

I tried to rinse and reuse a windex bottle for my mister. I have used soap, bleach, just hot water, and even after it smells clean the next morning the fragrance is noticeable. I dont think my shoeboxes like it...

What happened there Lizard? I hope that was a salvage job and not a inadvertent destruction of a HEPA filter...

Salvage job indeed. Motor had been removed prior to pics, only the mesh screen was salvaged and mounted in front of my good hood. Now it's protected a bit better from my clumsy hands. It was a filter fan unit I bought but wasn't usable anymore. Got my money back from the seller, so now it's time to get rid of the damned thing.

Spent all night reading everything about Pan Cyans that I could find. This site is amazing. It's like Internet archaeology. Different eras of people growing. I would randomly click on a name to see when they were last on the board...and it would be like 22 minutes. So there are a bunch of OG growers still coming to the site all the time, but they just hang out in The Pub???

I've eaten nor grown cubes in a while too. Like december or something for me. Cordyceps is keeping me busy myco-wise though, and although it took a while to get settled in my new space, the stress on that part has been lifted the past days by putting cordyceps sporeheads into agar plates, tearing apart that old filter fan unit and re-installing it's screen into my good FH, cleaning out a whole bunch of old plates to start experiment UV-C phase 2, and slowly getting around to all those little details you encounter when dealing with optimizing a new space. Along with that, I've also encountered a free 10qt-ish aluminum pressure cooker to convert into sterilizer to replace my old one. The old one nearly died from all the abuse it suffered so it was time to put it to rest. I don't know if I'm going to grow any cubes at all anymore honestly. For now my interests are peaking more towards medicinal and edible varieties...
