I regret not creating a shroomery account sooner.
My confession is that I've been lurking on the forums since mid-November (2017), but didn't create an account because I was too scared to start growing. I kept putting it off. I finally got over my insecurities about potentially failing, bought some spore syringes today, and officially created an account! And so my growing journey begins

Once, I had been using bacteria stain bottles to keep and distribute my iso and water.... I marked the bottles accordingly and began to clean my work area with iso. I had a soaked rag to wipe everything down as needed. So, there I am, torching a scalpel and I set the torch down right next to my cleaning towel soaked in iso. It bursts into a cool blue ball of fire, and I proceed to toss the thing on the floor. I reach for the water and begin to squeeze. The stupid fire begins to grow into a smart fire, before I know it most of the floor in my small room is now lapping with flames. I now keep iso in the bottle it comes in and insert a spray head.

Welcome to you Wesley!
First grows are almost always a failure, so don't worry about it. You can't improve if you don't fuck up a lot. Plenty of people here willing to help you.

Them Pleurotus columbinus seem to be struggling a bit. Were you one of the people that ordered P.cubensis spores, made a bunch of grows, only to find out they were Oysters? It's happened a few times.

Lol no, but I learned that oysters need tons of o2. I made that with just some random stuff I had laying around. Brown rice flower and sphagnum moss that I steamed for like 2 hours in a half pint ball jar, can't believe it didn't just mold up. Now that I think about it I lost a few of those jars to mold.

Hi guys, long time no post.
I confess I have almost abandoned this hobby, putting in maybe 1-2 hours into it every 2 weeks. My god damn gaming addiction is getting the better of me. I also have no oyster on plates, letting the last of it contam.
I'm gonna do a schedule of everything I need to catch up on. I've had LGT on plates and spawn for 4-5 months without a single fruit made, so thats my immediate goal. and I'm gonna get some of my other prints on agar. Placed an order for more supplies recently as well.
Still, I got quite a bit of spawn colonising at least. I'm planning on perhaps dropping my job soon, since its getting beyond boring, and its really just burning time for money, no skill needed.
I also haven't taken the time to trip and meditate in too long.
I also haven't been out foraging like I told myself I would. Autumnis here winter is coming up soon though. I feel so damn pressured for time.

I regret posting anything about my edible grows here. Although the shroomery is probably the best knowledge base on growing mushrooms available to the public , it's mostly about magic mushrooms.
I've been unwilling to completely toss my anonymity here for obvious reasons. I'll be staying silent or at least pictureless in the gourmet forums for some time; as I need to branch out and trade and converse on non anonymous sites.

Why do you regret posting gourmet grows?
What's up spotter? Yeah it's not nearly as lively over there but the knowledge is there for sure.
For some reason many of the super knowledgeable guys lurk. You can tell they're there by the view #s on the post, gourmet is interesting because I'll be yappin like I do and some dude registered since 04 with 90 posts chimes in with a wisdom bomb.
I wish there was documented grow parameters for edible species, temps, subs. So much knowledge comes and goes (active member base) and it isn't etched in stone while they're here.
However search box filtering and asking the old wise ones in PM is the best and sometimes only info I can find on new species I'm getting into. They just don't post
Also many of them have farms of varying sizes I'm sure you've read the threads I see you over there. Some badass mush farms

^^^ well put H. N.
I'm curious what's up too Spotter. As a new guy here, I like to get people's opinions and the lay of the land here.
Speaking of the old wise ones, I confess, I wonder where Forrester is. He hasn't posted for a couple months.

Incredible amounts of O2. I had large bags of oats that were bacterial stalling about halfway, but afer I opened them and removed the majority of the colonized mass I left the bags sitting open on a table and now the small bits I didnt remove have nearly finished colonizing the bacterial oats. Amazing, I will likely add them to wood shavings and rock em in baskets.

I confess I finally got some APE pins. Just not the way I was expecting. I'm so sad my last jars contammed. I know one thing is for sure I'm making some plates for tomorrow. And seriously. It's sime kind of cruel joke from the mush gods to give me better pin sets on my leftover agar dishes then in my shoeboxes.
Also what do you think the best pin to sample is from the APE dish Do you think I should take one from the largest cluster in the top left?

I say cluster at top left, but give them 4-5 days to mature so you have more tisssue to work with.

I confess that I kinda regret casing these APE. I’ve only grown them uncashed before and I think I prefer it that way.

I’ll be making some swabs folks....

Thanks, I specialize in mushroom photography, I've made a bunch of posters with my photos of mushrooms. I confess, the reason I don't cultivate mushrooms as much as I used to is because I spend 3-4 days a week looking for wild mushrooms.

This one is 77 different species I found inside that red circle.

I confess this is my favorite post I’ve seen on here to date! Expect many annoying PMs from me once the weather stops having its identity crisis and I can go out hunting/shooting! Might have to trade the 24-70 in for a nice macro this spring

I confess, my 6 year old never ceases to amaze me...the other day I mused aloud: "hmmm, I wonder how sweet potato plates would do?" to which she replied from the other side of the room: "You'll just have to test it". She also says she hates mushrooms but loves to help me "farm" them. Crazy kid!
