I use these pp5's for my pre pour agar work. I drilled a small hole in the side of each for ge and covered them with 2 layers of mp tape. The containers have a rubber seal and the lid seals air tight so the holes are necessary. I confess I only changed the tape out on them once since I bought them. I've been using these containers for about 4 months with the same mp tape on them. Last week I lost about 30 cultures due to contamination. Tiny satellites popped up all over them and exploded into mold. MP tape failure or failed sterile tek? I leave it up to you to decide but I would find it hard to believe that I messed up all of my transfers in that one session seeing as my success rate over the past year has been about 90+% consistently. I do know that I'll be changing that tape out before I use them next time

I confess, it's time for a system reset to get back to basics. I've gotten so far away from basic parameters that I'm starting to have problems with some tubs, so, I think it's time to start over. I've lost all my portabellas and oysters, so, its time to start over from the beginning. To do it the way that's been proven and stop trying to be mr. Experimental.
My depression is also getting the best of me today, nothing has gone right, my pain is out of control. It hurts to think not to mention move. This is when I need to take a trip to see the mushroom people, let them put everything back in order.

I confess, I wish I could do something to help.
Edit * how about my favorite joke?
What's the difference between a chickpea and a garbanzo bean?
I've never had a garbanzo bean on my face.

I laughed way to hard and way to long at that. I told my gf, she laughed to.
Thanks Spindly.

Hey Doc
Sorry to hear your doing poorly (you too Asura). How about a random beaver shot to cheer you up?

On a more serious note - check your PM.

Haha, yes. Thanks guys. There's a reason it's my favorite.
Take 'er easy fellas. I know it's not much solace when you feel like shit, hopefully it gives you a smile though.

I feel you about the depression. Finally got my flowhood and stuff was working good for a bit. Then Wham. Depression hits and I get sloppy and here comes mold city. Hugs Doc and Asura.
I confess I'm happy my TOC jars are coming along really nicely. Makes up for the wasted trip I took.Ignore the old micropore tape stuck to the jar. Got more 90% iso to clean them off for next time.

I almost put a deposit down on the place today but something didn't feel right about it. There seemed to be too much pressure and urgency. He said they had places for now and June so I told him to let me think about it overnight. I decided to investigate the property further and found several complaints about not having hot water and people boiling water on the stove to get warm water and bed bugs. I found a place for a little less with 50 extra sq. ft and a balcony and they have good ratings so I'm checking that property out next. I really hate apartment hunting but I'm glad I started early it's hard where I'm at. This whole getting stuck in a lease for a year thing makes it harder than just finding a room and knowing I can leave if I don't lie it.

I confess I've always duck taped my edible bags and been a-ok. I've gotten into reusing them for several things, pasteurizing subs in repeatedly, soon I'll be re sterilizing the shiitake bags and seeing how they do.
If I was harder on my luck or had more time if try to patch my one inch X's on my oyster bags with bigh temp rtv silicones, cure, and re PC them.
I could see a use for an impulse sealer if I ever see one cheap but I'm glad I waited.
I confess this hobby got more expensive than I thought it would. But it's still cheap for a lifetime hobby

Yes sir... Getting my impulse sealer to seal can be a bitch sometimes....and I usually end up having to seal it multiple times just to get it completely sealed...

Yeah. I heard impulse sealers can be a pain. I don't make a lot of bags so I just bought a bunch of zip ties.
