Sweet, sweet petrichor.
I confess I found a solution to my sub drying up during oven pasteurization. I found some oven bags on clearance at the lot store and figured I'd give it a shot. Came out perfect. I'm sure you could just as easily use grow bags since they are rated for high temps as well and the oven only hits 170.

You can run oven bags in a pc if ya want. And stop oven pasteurization. Steam is far more effective than dry radiant heat n shit.
That's why no one sets the oven for 212f to boil a pot of water. It would take forever

I don't care. I'm not paying the electric bill and it's been working out well. I can't use the stove after a certain time of night or even make the smallest amount of noise because the bitch upstairs is a whiny cunt. Every fucking time I swear she phones the landlord. He's like can you make sure you finish all your cooking before 9pm. I was tired and had to rest most of the day and I can't let these couple of jars go much longer and I have no time tomorrow. I'm getting my own place at the end of the summer and that will end that. In the meantime the landlord can pay for it. There's always a better way to do things but sometimes it just comes down to necessity and when or what I have the energy to do.
It reminds me of the guy who said to me why didn't I just get s sheet and put my straw in it and ring it out instead of putting it in my bathtub half the day with the fan. If I rang out a few cubic feet of straw I'd be dead tired and wouldn't be able to fill the bags. That's just how it is for me with EDS. I have to pick and choose.

Are you just cooking coir? Or doing poop past in the oven?
(Only asking cause if it's just coir. I doubt you are achieving effective past of the entire sub anyway but whatervers)

If it was coir I'd just pour hot water on it. It has chicken poo, gypsum and vermiculite. The chicken poo isn't too bad because it's processed into low odor pellets but I do it just in case anyways. And yes I've put a thermometer in. If you leave it in there long enough it gets up to temp and works. I stuck a thermometer in the first time I did it. I haven't been having contams for a long time so it has to be working.
I follow Eats tek but decided my sub was a little too dry at the end and instead of watering after I can save that step with the oven bags.

Luckily I had poked it for LC.. but I was trying to blend them, and yet both took a dive. So sad.

I think you'd enjoy loading it up in oven bags and steaming in a pot. Super easy.

I think I would too. It's what I do when I can. And in an ideal world without a cunt for an upstairs roomie that's what I'd do. But alas. It fucking sucks too. Tiptoeing upstairs to get stuff in and out. And plus I don't like doing certain things when people are home because it looks wicked sketchy. I just have to work the best I can till the end of the summer. I've been living in a less than ideal place for far too long. But yeah I confess I'm happy to have my on place in September.I know I keep saying I'm going to move but this is it for sure. Now I'm going to have to try and keep my bedroom as a bedroom and not turn my whole place into a giant lab covered in jars and bags of odd fungi. This will prove to be hard since that's what I've done to the space I have now.
And nooooooooooo! Sorry that happened.

I confess there is nothing like getting your second humidifier and inkbird in the mail to lift my spirits whil I adjust to having my meds cut in half again. It's been rough especially since my shoulder is junk. Broke down and took an ativan to relaxt the muscle and it's way better and more clear headed than that flexeril bullshit. Now I get to just stare at it and think of the two chambers I'm going to build this weekend. I am trading some goods for services with a friend and he's going to come help me move some stuff around and build the chambers. Byt for now I can stare at the new stuff and be pleased. I may have gone a little overboard with ordering ball lids and new jars though. Ooops. But trading the gourmet edibles I grow for labor when I injure myself makes me feel ten times better and ten times more likely to ask for help since I feel like I'm not just freeloading.

Trust me. If it's out there I've tried it. It's impossible to avoid the occasional injury with EDS unless I live inside a bubble.

Anyone else have a jar of spawn where like 2 grains are not colonizing? Yeah, it's probably a bacterial situation. I know. And then you say fuck it, boys....kill whatever that is or the lot of ya is going in the trash. Watching and waiting....

I've spawned bacterial grain before. 1 run and done. It's just bacteria, not like it's trich and I'm usually just after good genetics, prints, or a trip for me and my friends so I don't need 3-4 flushes. Though those jars have yet to turn green, just places on my sub that don't fruit well.
Edit: this is in regards to Asura's question about the 1 or 2 grains and potential contam. If it was worse than that I'd toss, I'm no Neanderthal.

Fo sheezy, just keep an eye on it and watch for the mold. Or if it's not all riding on that jar, top fruit the bitch

Confession My wife and daughter are fighting again. Our daughter is threatening to run away. The house feels like it is choked with a toxic fog. Frankly, I feel like forgetting it all and working quietly on mushroom cultivation for a few hours. sigh...

you gotta be a rock brotha. women need that. they crave it. just try not to be a dick about it
even if they run away youll always be there for them right? i think that fear is why the lady folk can freak out sometimes. maybe they feel like no one will have their backs if they make mistakes so they feel undr pressure to be perfect.
or something.

Thank you Mushboy I think there is some truth to that. It makes me sad that these two go at each other so often. I'll always be there - no doubt about that. My daughter and I are solid, she wants to be free of her mom though - and her mom of her. They are both looking forward to the day when they don't have to deal with each other

I confess ... That as I was banging a quart of burma spawn against my palm this morning and it shattered my thoughts came in this order:
1) Damn all that grain in my greenhouse is going to be a contamination magnet, how will I find every single piece of grain?!
2) I lost a quart of spawn!
3) I should have taken Rodger Rabbit's advise to bang spawn jars against an old tire,
and (as the blood is starting to drip off my hand)
4) Hmmm... wonder what kind of damage I've done to my hand?

I'm sorry to hear that psilo. I confess I once called the police on a mother / daughter combo that used to have screaming matches every day in the apartment below me. I finally called the police one day when I started hearing shit getting smashed (like breaking glass) and one of them was screaming like they were in pain shouting "stop stop". Like that kind of terrified scream where someone is piss-their-pants scared.
The daughter moved away after that. The mom was really hurt. She didn't want her to leave but she drove her daughter crazy being over bearing. Just didn't work out.
