I just finished reading all of the wet v dry SAB discussion in the General Discussion thread and it inspired me to make a confession.
Forgive me mush cult, for I have sinned.

People get lucky.
Working in open air will most likely not provide you with any consistency over the long haul though.

I confess that I left these jars a little too long... I thought I'd see what occurred.

at this point I got scared. wrapped them in 3 bags and put them in the trash to be taken away. presumably to break open sometime in the future in a landfill sight somewhere and release the bacteria which will wipe out all humanity!

I've cut my cheek and my nose once because I forgot I had a scalpel in my hand because I was distracted and getting stressed out by other stuff while cutting bags. You totally have to focus while holding sharp shit. Another time I put down my scalpel on my bed because I used it to cut some tape because I lost my scissors. Luckily It was pretty dull and only gave me a poke when I rolled over on it.
I confess this really makes me happy. Ignore the yellowish areas. My cell phone white balance is shit especially when I use the flash. All of my tubs still look great. One had a very tiny patch of mucor but it went away. I think the cubes won! Been monitoring it since but don't see any reason to toss it since it looks as good as all the other ones. I marked it and put it separate.
So hopefully this looks like healthy KSSS. Those white mycelial clumps are called hyphal knots right? What's before the primordia stage. Is it good to have so many knots?
Also this bacterial bag is on it's third flush. These ones look like they might actually grow to be a decent size. The caps have remained tightly closed and they are super fat. I need at least one nice one because I lost my last TOC culture by dropping it while cleaning and don't want to start over. This one seems to be able to survive anything and fruits like mad. It was the only survivor from the old dirty jar batch. I want to be able to grow it out again and then make prints. I think opening the bag up and clearing the CO2 has helped this time around. Also I didn't tape the bag tightly shut this time leaving room for extra air flow along with the patch. Just enough to keep the moisture in. This will be the last flush since the bottom is getting a bit soupy like orange slime barf.
And with the help of friends and the donation of a folding table I almost got my new lab setup. Yay me! Also no more pile of dirty bins and blocks. All been trashed or dumped. Going to spray the bins and hose em later this week.

I confess, I forgot I was trying to take pictures of the stars one night and forgot about the picture.
I was going through my photo gallery and saw this picture.

I thought, how did I get hyphae on my camera lens? It took several hours to realize it's crape myrtle trees.

Glad too see you still around TBC .
I confess I changed my mind and am now dumping 14 perfectly good grain jars out (uninnoculated) simply because I want to flip the lids for ease.
Seems lc and plates rubber side down, and grain rubber side up

TBC!
I've been lucky enough to see the scalpel coming every time for now (knock on wood), but I know what you're talking about with the cutting your nose and cheek open. I've been less lucky with pens in the past. Less painful though.
Confession:
I bought me a sterilizer, even though money is tight. I thought I'd wait with telling the misses until fresh money came in, wich is in about 4 days, and that would be alright, since they said it wouldn't be here for another week. Of course they delivered it today already...
The one time they decide to deliver me shit way faster than promised...

I'm still around. If I drop off for a bit it's because I'm in the middle of some projects right now. I'll be back.
Today I woke up and wen't to check on my bins. One has a tiny single mushroom pin. I'm so close. My heart almost sank when I looked in my large bin. I saw these dark patches and thought oh no. The trich monster got em. I got closer and opened it up and it was just shadows.

Find anybody to take that hood yet NC?
I confess I am very excited about this PE culture. Ruined 10 jars of grain being lazy and trying that first. Failed to get germination of 15+ plates. Finally got some germination and weird looking growth on a plate. This is 1 transfer in and about to get another

I confess that this is my first post on the forums.
I got interested in mycology because of Paul Stamets on a Joe Rogan podcast.
The reason for my latest interest/hobby stems from researching how to stave off current and future neurological issues resulting from blast trauma sustained overseas.
First time experimenter started with MS to Easy AF Oat tek to shoeboxes after lurking on this site for months. Got my first pin today and hope to wake up to more.
Regardless if I do or don't find relief from TBI headaches this is going to be a lifelong hobby finding and cultivating useful forms of fungi.

I confess. It's not my house, needs alot of work and cleaning out of boxes and stuff. At least i have a place to go and a place to bring my shit for when i get to take a cop to my house and collect what i can in the few minutes they allow. I also rented a storage unit across the street. I am makeing a list to give the cop ahead of time so theres no disputing. I have friends, trucks, vans, drivers. Planned, coordinated asualt. Load my equipment on the trailer, tow with my chevy. Tools in the bed, my ford just want a friend to get it atleast 1000 ft away. My dodge needs pushed out of driveway because no revrse but drives foreard. New tranny delivered to shop in few days. Stereos, amps-speakers,tv, cloths, hygine, laptop, cloths, vehicle titles, mobile home title and other paperwork. Plus the few rolling trays i have in the works. In what ever ride free. Of course cecil whom i havent seen in 3 days. Dam hood is still in the back of my truck.
If the cop isn't really getting involved i will grab my case of spawn jars, mushrooms from freezer and few jars of weed. My jewlery box of watches extra keys, abye survalence sustem.
For sure my moms memois and letters from prision. And what ever else i get on my list in next day or so. Spore prints.
Makeing the hit.
Way fucked up situ but can't cry over spilt milk. Pop up, continue to march. Sucks but what else can you do.
"Striveing for excelents" fuck the haters, cop callers, shallow fakers. I got love for you, just a really bad time.
It's my world. NothingChanged.
