Christmas present!
Moms are awesome. I mentioned in passing some time ago that I needed some shelves for my jars and she went and bought me a very expensive wooden shelve, I said heck no and chose this one that is less than half the price and is even better for the job. Thick plastic shelves that you have to assemble, oh well...

It's funny that way. Yeah wooden shelves are no good for what we do. They are hard to keep as sanitary and you might end up with oysters trying to grow out of the side. I live these plastic shelves. I have three of them.

I feel like I got little pep in my step now that I am getting my new stuff. I am pressure cooking all my dirty jars and cleaning out all my dirty bins. Myco depression is the worse. Kind of sucks though that the exact moment I decide to get some shit done other people want to be in the kitchen when it's usually empty. It's like get the fuck out of my kitchen so I can pressure cook my moldy jars damn it!

I did this shit one time and then dug it out of the jar with a knife and the entire time I was thinking "This is NOT worth my time, I should've just bought 12 more jars"

Really. Ugggh. I better not then. I am going to throw these jars away. They are not safe for opening otherwise. I am going to PC these agar jars though for a few minutes. Unfortunately these flat jars are hard to get sometimes and they cost more to buy and I'm not losing a bunch of modded lids. There not covered in mold so they won't smell. Mostly a bit of bacteria and a few mold spots on some.
I was looking at my L. Nuda and I think one of them is transferable since I don't see any mold. Worst wild clone attempt yet. Should have used the specimen sooner. I did grow something I've never seen before on agar. Some kind of green forest mold. I guess that's what I'm calling it since it looks like I grew and actual forest with little trees. Almost like looking at the bushes in an old school NES Zelda game.

I never pc contam jars either, I always just toss the contents in the trashbag the day it goes out the door. The ones that have lipstick mold looking shit go in jar n all. I'm not opening that.
Plates get a special treatment. I'll be divulging more in a few months.

Throw them away?
You inhale bleach like nobody else but a contam jar is too much?
Just dump it outside. Rinse with hot water and reload and pc.

No. If it was a little bit of contams I caught right away but not this shit. It's just been sitting. It's not worth it. I'll spend the 10 bucks. And yes a bit of light bleach here and there is fine. There are actual human pathogens that can grow that are far more serious in nature. Also spores can be a mechanical irritant to the respiratory tract. Depending on how my immune system is doing right now there are also opportunistic fungi that can become human pathogens.

You microwave them.
I usually put them on top of my pc when I'm running a cycle, all gets nice and killed. I use no pours.

Right now I'm cleaning up everything and starting new. I have new stuff coming in and I want the place tip top sanitized and clean. I have a few friends coming to help me donate some stuff and rearrange my bedroom. All those favors I've done for people in the past seem to be coming back to me now. I was surprised at how happy everyone was to help me with my project of making everything organized. I don't really like to ask much of anyone but I can't really move heavy things right now.
With my EDS I need to create an easy space to manage so when I get injuries or have my bad days everything has it place I can easily keep up with things.
No more jars hanging around and no more bins just sitting there molding away anymore. And I didn't just spend a bunch of money to make a mess of everything again. Once I get rid of this nasty shit I won't have anymore to worry about in the future. I'll never be able to have a nice crop of oysters otherwise.
I can't wait to get my greenhouse. so stupidly excited. It will need a little modifying but the price point was good and it has enough space for now. I'm also getting a better console humidifier with a humidistat I believe. If not I'll probably do a little DIY.

I confess I'm starting to feel pretty confident with my SAB and sterile technique. I really cleaned and scrubbed down my bedroom walls, ceiling, and floor and the closet and set up all my stuff in there. Everything is nice and organized.
My first round of grain jars are turning out better then I thought. A few more burst oats then I would have liked, but the moisture and everything else looks perfect. Dropped wedges on the 12th and 15th. Shook all on the 24th and they are recovering great. I was half expecting some problems or maybe a couple to contam but everything seems ok for now. I really took it as more of a practice run then anything. We'll see how they smell in a week or two.
Polyfill lids at the moment but I just ordered some real SFD's. Just waiting on them before i do another round of grain jars. Should do better on the burst grains now that I know what to watch for. I have a few nice PE and Malabar transfers on agar I'm excited to throw in some grain jars and maybe try a few G2G's if they turn out nice.
Just messing around and having fun, trying not to take anything too seriously. I'll be doing shoeboxes and unmodified mono's for the most part. I'm not much of a poster, with all the information here there isn't much need to ask questions, and being newish I figure it's best to keep opinions to myself. We'll see though, I might have a few things to share at some point. I tend to go overboard when I get into new hobbies.

I toss jars out if they get mold or after 7-8 runs when i’ve put too many labels/MP tape on it. I feel like PC’ing bad jars is a waste of time, maybe because I only have a couple times a week I’m able to run the PC. I’d much rather be cooking up fresh grains with that time than doing damage control. That ties into my habit of wastefulness though so someone else may not be as comfortable with contributing that waste to the environment. For $10 its a no brainer for me
