The 2x4 unit I bought was in really good condition...the filter appears clean as hell.. Only thing wrong with mine was some paint chipped off and the protective screen was bowed out a little..but as far as I can tell output is pretty even all the way across...can't wait to start working on my hood

I confess the holidays have been stressful and ok at the same time. My lions mane dried out because a friend came into town and I kept forgetting to refill the humidifier. It's ok though because I'm going to use it in tinctures and soups. I still have a few lbs of oysters to eat up and more on the way. I'm going to have to think of something creative to make with them for New Years. And just barely a week after I harvested I noticed pins. I was ready to go to bed after harvesting this lions mane and I had to go spend some time freeing the troops from their plastic prison. Also my shoebox got a little dry but I believe I caught it in time. I gave it a liberal spritz. I flipped the lid and forgot. I'll let it air out and some of the water evaporate while I sleep and flip the lid back over in the morning.
Also I told everyone that I couldn't afford presents this year because I wanted to build myself a flow hood and everyone seemed pretty ok with that. Some people were actually super encouraging and said they would rather have me do that with my money. It just feels weird getting gifts and not giving them. I'll grow everyone some nice mushy gifts later to make up for it.
Also thanks to everyone who's helped me out this year. I've gotten lots of great advice and it's made me a better mycologist. I feel like with everything going on I would have gone even nuttier than I already have without my mushies.

I do my sab shit on my kitchen surface where i prep food and above the bin area, leave the heating on, havent used gloves in months either. Only thing i do is close the window. My contam rate is as low as when i took a shitload of precautions.

I remember being a rank noob and doing sterile work in a dirty ass basement. Shaky hands like you wouldn't believe, all nervous and using jars that were hella tall for transfers (brf paste to add to the difficulty) and it was a little cramped globebox with thick gloves attached and super uncomfortable.
Guess what, I had success and rarely saw any contams. I seriously doubt you technique is worse than mine was, my guess is that yours is infinitely better than mine back then. What I'm trying to imply is that sometimes the cause of contams is environmental, like an undetected source of mold near your SAB room, so if I were you I'd inspect the area thoroughly.
I don't know if you have read my posts were I bitch about my mold problems, here is an example.
A typical comment people like to say is "you can do sterile work in a dumpster as long as you have still air and good technique", which I agree. But can you do sterile work if you have an undetected mold fest near your SAB room, drafts included in the lot? Hell no. I'd disregard any comments from people telling you otherwise, they mean well but they probably have not experienced anything similar. So that's what I'd do in your place; inspect, elimate the source and clean aftewards.

Hey Josex. I kind of feel you on that. After my outbreak I bleached my closet and have been good to go. I just think too much shit built up in it over the months. Also I started moving slower in the box.
And everyone was like oh no. Don't bleach your closet. It won't do anything. But it did something. All the nasties went away and I'm not full of sadness and shame anymore. Well excfept for this weird old bacterial TOC jar I stuck in a bag with some leftover coir. That thing is fucked. It looks like tiny bizarro mutant cube caps stuck to substrate.

It's funny when you post you have mold problems people automatically think is your technique. Fuck I have to post a vid of me doing agar work and let people judge if it's good or not. I'm such an agar whore and have done thousands of plates in 2 years. My agar success rate with this mold problem was ~80%, even less on windy days and the days after. I fared even better with A2G (but that's very slow for me for a series of reasons), but pouring LC into grains? It was disastrous.

I saw the vid. First thing I thought, 'is that a physiological issue? Or is it psychological?', my guess is the second, I really wanted to ask you but held back in the end. Picture your shakes and multiply them by 5, that's how I started, it was epic... to grab a wedge I'd stab the plate to death because of the shakes, plate totally destroyed haha
I only learned to control that and calm the fuck down after I started doing long agar sessions on purpose, like 30+ transfers per session, not because I needed to do so much agar but because I really wanted to overcome this shit. I was so tired by transfer 20 that I wouldn't give a shit and that's when I relaxed. That did it for me and within 2 months I learned to relax and that's when my technique started to get progressively better.

I confess back in the day, my drying method was a wooden box, with a 60 watt incandescent light in the bottom, with screen stretched over the top. It was about 100F, which I tried to stay at, because the fucking book claimed temps ober 100f would start to degrade the actives, LOL. Fucking book was from 2006, and one can tell by the outdated info, but hey it was current when I got it and used it, lol. You all think leaning with the shroomery is bad? Try learning from a book ONLY, with no one to ask advise from. That shit SUCKED!

So I bought the units and this greenhouse. I also got an order of thermal fuses for my dehydrators so no more of this broken dehydrator shit. Total upgrade!

Confession: I can't help but feel a little empty inside every time I see a jar or grow thats heavily contaminated but still kept around for that last-ditch effort. My work with fungi isn't nearly as clean as it can get but I feel that its a disservice to this amazingly complex organism to be tortured the way we do at times. Reminds me of factory farming. I'm trying to be better but in the end we remain Consumers. Fitting

The Fungi are very patient with us. Patience is one of the most important characteristics I've learned from them. Very wise they are.

I confess I'm so freakin excited about my new stuff coming. Has it been a week yet? The greenhouse is going to need a few modifications and I've already measured a space out. Looks like I'm getting rid of some stuff to fit it. Pretty soon I'm going to be surrounded by my mushies.
Also that weird bag of TOC has some normal fruits in it. Kinda cool. Waiting for this dange Escondido to fruit soon.
