I confers I am super excited to have my first bulk grow going. Do you guys think these holes are big enough for a 36qt tub? They are almost 2 inch holes an I have 6 with poly fill stuffed in them but not super tight.

The hole size is fine. I found it easier to dial them in with micropore tape.

Fast colonization, not to bad looking but I think you got some bacteria in there. I say this as my tubs that looked like that were bacterial. That being said my Purple Mystic that was bacterial went 5 flushes before mold showed up.

Hopefully I get a few flushes I will be happy with that. I let it colonize for 10 days before I put it into fruiting

Did you clean the culture on agar? If suspect to have bacteria then it is better to have fruiting conditions from the start, not full on fruiting conditions, top holes should still be covered. This helps it get fruits out ASAP instead of contamination before 1st flush.

Yea I put it to agar and did a tiger drop but thanks I didn't know that about being able to fruit from the start. I also have 2 lasagna pans that I plan on putting into my SGFC they are the same as the tub so I will put them in now just to be safe

JHOVA said: Tom i know you are obviously a big fan of slurry. Have you ever messed with cornmeal plates ? and did you ever try blenderless cornmeal plate slurry? I only have a single blender attachment right now thats limiting the amount of jars i can use as inoculant.
Been wanting to try some cornmeal but my li and/or agar to grain skills is a major bust so idk how using cornmeal could help at all.
Maybe for my bags but I can colonize a whole brf cake in 5 days from lc which is a lot more noc points than a cornmeal plate so I don't see the point.
never tried a blenderless slurry but hbere's some cheap blades. https://www.amazon.com/Oster-4961-011-4961-Ice-Blade/dp/B000BD6L0O/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1513905314&sr=8-8&keywords=oster+blade
I have been contemplating mixing some cornmeal into the brf mix to see what the speed is like with it.
Or even instead of brf using cornmeal.

Thats wild. How do you make LC if your agar is suspect?
I have 3 plates like this. One i want to try blenderless in a 1/2 pint or quart jar, the next oster slurry and another with a pcable pp5 shaker bottle with a the metal ball.
Im just not sure how well blenderless will break up and getting the water content right.
I gotta make some pf pucks next. Josex showed me his mush cult life hack with the shaker bottle and pf puck it looks good!

You don't, to make LC your agar has to be on point.

This was a PF Tek grow until the cakes fell into a tub full of coir

I confess I'm not knocking the pf tek, I just find bulk a lot more fulfilling and rewarding. I feel like I get back more for my time. When I first started out, I did both at the same time for my first project . That is my spawn jars (wbs) colonized alongside the brf jars. I had 100% success with the wbs and 30% with the brf, how that happened I don't know. So, bulk has worked for me everytime since then where brf fails a lot for some reason.

We all got to go with what works for us. And what works for one may not work for another. I do pint sized grain cakes and get about a 1/4 of an oz of each. I can run 20 at a time in my PC. Considering that it is grains and substrate in the PC that's not bad. When comparing to what you would get off of 10 Qt (20 pint) of grains you would then have to account for the fact that you would still have to add in the substrate, which with the cakes is all ready present. I pulled 180g wet off of a MS LGT quart sized cake earlier. Personally I am ok with that. That's hould dry to a little over a half OZ. I like to try different methods and play around some, it is fun and interesting.

Trying new stuff is where I'm at now, cubes have become boring. I confess I spend more time at the microscope now instead of growing. I need something to do indoor grow wise, that's not an active. I don't feel comfortable having anything around other than petri's and early stage jars for taxonomy at the moment and spores of course.

Why? I have felt paranoia a few times but no one other than my brothers know I can grow. I have never been paranoid to the point of stopping because of fear like that, what gives?
