but fuck, you just got to do it eh? time to crack on! good work today folks
I've gotten a LOT more confident in my technique as time went on. Doing stuff regularly helps keep the muscle memory sharp as well. I've gotten my G2G down very solid and with actual scalpels I can do agar transfers very slick as well.

I have found softer agar makes transfering easier. The wedge slips off the scalple much easier. I have been using 8g agar per 500ml.

I confess I am so stoked to see some growth from an ape swab I put to agar. Wish ham was still around so I could thank him

I confess this pleases me. Do you know what it's like to finally open up tubs that look like this and just smell clean and not like an abandoned building. Jeezus fuck I had a rough time of it for awhile. Should I fruit them now. How do I fruit a shoebox? I assume I turn the lid upside down. Does the sub look too dry? Should I give it a mist. Fuck I thinjk I forgot how to grow shrooms all of the sudden it's been so long.

Haha. I just had to look that up. Looks like I'm investing in another shoebox then. I was thinking of once they got a certain size I could take the lid off and open fruit them with my oysters. I figure if I have perfect oyster mushrooms that aren't dried out that they would do well under the humidifier and lights too in my makeshift grow area. Is that a fair assumption?

In your martha you can do cube trays top row and oysters on the bottom. Worked for me.

Yeah, forgot you're going martha style; you can just open em up if conditions are kept in the right ranges.

I feel like I'd be afraid of having oysters anywhere near my cube grows.

I'd wait till they were fully colonized and pinning before I put them next to one another. Once a mushroom fully colonizes a substrate it shouldn't start growing oysters. And if it does by the second flush I can have some dinner too. Shit if oysters was the least of my worries.

I saw a picture years ago of oysters and cubes growing from the same tray, was a surprise contaminate, the spores were all over his grow area, I wonder if he ever had health problems from it... I have 3 shoeboxes fruiting and I don't even flip the lid, they get enough fae

I keep the lid latched until I have a pin set starting. Once it is a good pin set, I will pop the id loose to allow a bit more FAE. When it is clear the pin set is in and they need the FAE, I stick it in a mono tub. When I am around to keep an eye on them, I will mist heavy and open air fruit. Then when I go to bed or am busy I will put it back in my mono tub.
I pulled like 649G off of a shoebox made from 2Qt spawn today. It responded very well to about 6 hours of just sitting in the open air prior to harvest. They gained a solid inch, maybe a bit more in height during this time.
