Josex said: Hey Germs, does millet usually have shiny hulls? I can get millet like that all nice and shiny, doesn't specify the variety. Idk if it's normal for millet to have shiny hulls. The shiny hulls sketch me out a little because I tried canary seed some days ago, super shiny hulls and it came out of the pc in one single block, unshakable shit.
I looked it up and apparently this grain has lots of resines. I don't really know for sure if shiny hulls mean resines and if resines mean clumping, though.
They are somewhat shiny straight out the bag but after being soaked in water then strained they take on a yellow color. Compared to oats and most wbs mixes I have tried, millet is very clean and non-resinous, dont think thats a word but im drinking alcohol andyou get my point

Thank you man, I'll give it a try. I confess I had to dump 2 bags of wheat cos it burst like crazy without even doing a simmer and it was dirty as hell too. Got a new bag of wheat now, looks much better, but the millet has been on my head for quite a long time.

Mycolorado said: I confess that my kid is the shit. Just got an email from her school....it was a video of her giving an impromptu presentation on reishi cultivation and use as a medicinal to her 1st grade class. She nailed everything from substrate to harvest to historic use by the Chinese. Pretty impressive shit considering she's 6. Guess the spore didn't fall far from the cap...
I tried to convince my eldest daughter to let me do that with my granddaughter, but I guess she thinks I'll teach her something illegal.
I think it's so cool she was able to present everything. I know you are so proud of her, she sounds like a very intelligent young lady. Who knows she may be a leading scientist someday because you helped spark an interest in science or something.

Man this kind of shit. I hate how people see this that way. Where you can't even get a kid involved in something that is scientifically awesome and is frankly probably a foot in the door for our future as a species without someone worrying that they might learn something illegal.. Teaching people to be mycophobic definitely doesn't help in the grand scheme.
I keep all my shit behind locked doors even though there's nothing illegal going on right now, just for the fact that people can't and don't want to understand. It's a real shame, because it's interesting, legitimate stuff, the understanding of which carries over into more than just biology. I think it's something all kids should learn about. The idea that mushroom cultivation has to be associated with illegal stuff is something we probably created here by sending enough noobs out into the world to repeat some of what they heard without checks and balances.

Very close-minded and illogical. I suppose you shouldn't teach her how to grow tomatoes either because she can take that same gardening knowledge and grow marijuana.

I confess I am frustrated with how my transportation issues affect my projects. I finally found a good place to buy whole oats, it's just across town.
Sadly, walking across town with a 50lbs bag of whole oats to an apartment in the middle of winter just doesn't seem like a great idea.

You can let UPS do the leg work for you(pun kind of intended). I know shipping is expensive, but pails in comparison to the expenses associated with owning and operating a vehicle.

There’s an app called Postmates where they do favors like Uber in a sense, you just download the app and when they link you with someone, instruct them to buy a bag of oats and they’ll bring it over. Probably worth the extra 10-20$

I confess after having to flush a bunch of spawn and shit I found almost 2 quarts of spawn that I had forgotten about in my garage. I had some coir and verm cooling in a bucket when that all happened but I was wondering would the coir/verm still be good to use it's been 5 days and the lid is still on it? I was going to do a shoebox

I love chemistry, the highest level thing I believe I could make is MDMA. I seriously researched over the years on the LSD synthesis and yea, aint happening, it blows my mind that there's chemists risking it to make at all. I can't do shit under an inert atmosphere and yadda yadda, that's full blown laboratory type shit.
Which is why I confess I grow mushrooms instead rofl.

Damn, that's impressive. I know nothing about chemistry and have no goals of learning, but always wanted to know exactly how people make MDMA. Wish there was a Tek I could read for the basics, heh.
