Never doing that again confessions sound like they could get pretty fun, lol.

I confess anymore I never weigh my dose. I just eyeball that shit and go slow unless I'm on a mission.

Due to the fact that not all shrooms are the same it seems like a silly idea to me. What is a number? Be appropriate, be good, and have the right setting and that's all it takes IMO.

Then again the person who originally turned me on would say that shit as he was dosing people.

I still don't get why people let their mushrooms get all soggy just to wait to dry them. the only time I'd put fresh shrooms in the fridge is if I wanted to eat them that way. if I couldn't dry them I would make them into tea and freeze it for later use. while potency loss during drying is negligable it is still there. I'd rather make tea with fresh mushrooms than dried ones

Eating them fresh is definitely the way to go if you have them like that on hand, and drying right away is the way to go if potency is your only concern, but I personally will keep shrooms in the fridge for up to 3 days because of drying synchronicity. I'd rather pick a few big shrooms or a sub that's a bit faster than the other at the right harvest time and have it sitting in the fridge for a few days before drying, than having them sporesplode all over the tub. And drying them separately is not very ecological considering the huge amount of energy put into drying.

One thing that has crossed my mind several times, is this: how cool would it be to just cook your fresh shrooms in some coconut or olive oil, with some nice herbs and some black pepper, and then vacuum bag em in sterilizable baggies, seal, sterilize, and voila: gourmet tripping on the go.

I don't know if those home vacuum seal thingies would be good enough for something like this though... And I don't even have one of those, so no way of trying

Of course we could all try it very easily if we just jar em like you would with canned foods, right? Mini gourmet mushroom jars... One portion a jar... Sounds like a plan...

I confess I'm such a weirdo. I wrote the person a thank you email for allowing me to pick the most amazing oyster mushrooms ever off their property. I found out while on google trying to check out what the tree looked like before it was cut down that I was looking at a business that has yarn art classes. I also wanted to warn her that they were tasty and that I might be popping by for a few more. I am culturing them because they were growing from the top of the four foot tree all the way to the roots and there almost wasn't a spot where you couldn't see them growing. They were very thick and meaty too which makes for a great storage stable strain. So excited! I really am such a weird person. I get incredibly excited about the oddest things. But I'm sure you guys get it.

Also I made my poor city girl friend turn around because I spotted them from her car. I also got her to go to the woods and drive to the western part of the state to hunt chaga with me. She usually makes me go mall shopping two days in a row when she comes. I talked her into half a day of this and then kind of sat and played escape games with my phone on a stool as she dug through the shoe warehouse.
