Cleaning will not solve your problems. Better grain prep and technique will.

High sporeload can affect sterile work at a high volume.

Cleaning is very good practice after major outbreaks but not when it's in the jars. That's when a tub(s) tams out hard.(or if your house is filthy)

But I would pc the jars before dumping them out in your house to be safe.

I'd always keep a test jar to be sure your lid or filter isn't failing.

The pcing is definitely killing all mold no problem.

No need to test the temp.

Anyway like mush said bleach is not needed.

And if you think your place is full of mold its everywhere not just the closet.

Just use soap and water and wipe all surfaces with a rag or I like a swifter for walls and ceiling.

And air the place out and vacuum really good and get all dust wiped up. And your good to go.

Please take it from me bleach isn't going to do much damage except what it's doing to you and your lungs.
I've used bleach and since stopping I haven't seen any difference.
I still use it for laundry and my bathroom. And occasionally the floor

ill wager that my transfers were clean today. she was zonked out. i did a few quick cuts while she was out

i confess, ive done sab work before with my cat sleeping on top. awful, shameful practice to be honest. but shes so cuuute!!

(no contams from the sessions either)

the point is i dont bleach shit. i practice good technique and make sure my air is undisturbed. even with that cat.

I practice good technique as well. But my closet hasn't been taken apart and cleaned in awhile. I think it's time especially with all the outbreaks.

It may have been my syringe. I shook a plate and put it in my syringe for the first time. Something must have accidentally gotten inside. I think I like dropping plates better. Adding all these extra contamination vectors is too much of a hassle for me right now.

-syringe
-something got inside
-closet hasnt been cleaned in awhile
-plate dropping

in one reply you blamed everything but whats really at fault. you the cultivator. not trying to
be mean or start a fight. but do you realize what you just did? thats why you have these issues.
technique isnt just wiping this and that with bleach. its how you move in the SAB, how you hold
your plates, angles you use your blade at. ways you take cuts... all those juicy details.

so when assholes like me, ask ...'how do you inoculate?' i dont care about anything else except the physical
act of how you are doing it. i hold pertis at partially upside down angles. i never, ever put my hands over
anything exposed. i move the hands around those items. looking straight down on your SAB can help you see
if maybe your hands move across anything open. post more pics. hell.. maybe make a video?

if i were you id think of everything i do.. and do the exact opposite. so stop using bleach for one.
nobody bleaches and if they do they are proving how big of a noob they really are. :twocents: (or they havent read that part yet)

i became awesome at growing when i realized everything i think i do to help is really hurting.
and to start doing all the things I THOUGHT would led to failure. like ignoring my own dumbass.

Well said Mushboy... I had to learn it don't matter how much I clean...I got dust on everything and all kinds of shit floating in my air...but only see mold or bacteria when I fuck up my movements in the SAB.... I watched Munch's SAB video a few times and mimmic'd his movements...

Yeah I do admit the sporeload has much less to do with sterile work and has more to do with 2nd and third flushes when even the cleanest of myceliyum is weakened enough to allow a large mold sporeload to get some germination on the surface of the sub.

I have gotten clean jars and fruits from inoculating in a moldy SAB although my contam rate went out the roof. Finally found a wet spot that was rotting the frame of my sab and had mold directly sporelating into the box.
Just that I was able to get some clean jars shows that the still air and wet walls truly do fend off the nasties.
But, Just not so perfectly if the volume of spores is off the richter scale.

I'll be fine. Also ventilation. If I want to wash my house excessively because it's dirty than that's fine. I understand what you are saying by proper SAB work. I just want to give everything a good once over since it's been a long time.

I'm going to say I'm pretty damn sure it was the syringe since only my PESA jars contaminated and those were the jars where I made the liquid plate. I did something wrong or there were contaminants already in the plate that I didn't see. So yeah my fault. I like just cutting up the plates really and dropping them. It's easier.

Tonight I make fresh agar and transfer all the cultures. So much work.

And I don't bleach my bathroom or space before each transfer. I'm just bleaching everything because it's time and it should be done on occasion. I'm having a lot of issues meaning it's probably dirty in here. It's not the only or main reason but starting off with a clean room helps. I will eventually be able to get that sweet flow hood but until then I gotta make due.

I wish there was a better cleaning agent that didn't give me headaches but I guess I can just smoke a joint and deal with it for the time being.

soap and water and nearly as effective.

the wiping is the main thing does the cleaning.

Just a rag with soap and water rinsed out occasionally will remove the dust from all surfaces.
After that a light bleaching can help get the remaining very small amount of contams...
spraying bleach is doing nothing but making it able to get airborne and directly into your lungs.

Don't spray a lot of bleach.

Use a rag soaked with 10% bleach for disinfecting.

Wouldn't distilled white vinegar work as a sanitizer? I mean they use it as a sanitizer and bleach substitute in the food industry...they even make a stronger vinegar for cleaning with

Flood with ozone while you are elsewhere. Then hold your breath to turn it off.

After that, just let it dissipate for 20-30m.

A timer would be awesome for this part, if you have one.

No need to bleach.

Works easiest in small spaces, but can help in many ways.

I don't even clean my SAB more than once every 2 or 3 months. Technique trumps cleaning.

There are three distinct realities occurring simultaneously.

The first involves a single point or object.
The second involves that point/object's relationship with other points/objects.
The third involves their relationships in motion.
