I have only use salt and water, and that is ONLY if I have pins In already. I made that mistake of digging it out once. I also made the mistake of being lazy and letting mold tubs sit around , which is probably why I lost most of my cultures to mold back in June. Now I have to work in front of a flow hood.

SOME of it is genetics. I did a SHIT bacterial grow and it put out bigger fruits than what my Costa Rica ever did.
Good job on your big shrooms.

Those aren't from the trich tub. I isolated as the only strong rhizomorphic sector in a severely contaminated petri dish. Then transferred it a few times. I'm wondering if my singling it out this strain for it's resilience is why It has made it through 6 flushes and hasn't contaminated. I still have the bin which has yet to contaminate. I need to do more work with it now that I now it can produce giant meaty shrooms and has some resistance to see if the trend continues.

welcome to the shroomery?
i could post a pic of some random shroom and maybe 1 person might go 'cool' but if i post a pic of some cracked out shit? ill get all the attention i crave.
just not the kind i want. or the kind you want. post pics of an accomplishment(no side pins), or something ego stroking even!(kiddie pool)
but a pic of a nasty, triched out garbage substrate? that aint gonna make people go
it will make people go..

I confess I feel much sadness over my inability to prepare well enough for two tubs of trich. I was just getting brave enough trying a few monos at a time but didn't prepare for the damage of all my projects going at once and not have anything going. Luckily my oysters are producing again and that's kind of nice. Lots of fancy meals with the large harvest of lions mane. Hopefully with all the jars being done and me ordering more sfd's and jars I'll be able to maintain a continuous grow cycle. I'm just so miserable from being so poorly prepared and not having a good contingency plan and just thinking that things will just kind of work themselves out. Also I bruised my hip cleaning the bathroom and I have to suck it up and get shit done. I'm just cranky and sore and all kinds of mopey and stoned.
At least I have this pretty jar to look at in my fridge till I eat it and this specimen.

I did notice those sweet Purple Mystics and made a mental note to try them ... I seem to recall that the mad hatter here sent me one. They are very nice looking fruits. I'm hoping the meaty caps are part of what is distinctive about that variety.

The good Hatter has also sent me a print. He said that meaty caps, and overall meaty mushrooms are common traits with these.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm just really unnaturally frustrated with myself today. I am going to go engage in some self care. First stop my favorite pizza joint so I can be a little naughty with my eating Next thing coming home and taking a shower and putting my favorite pj's on and watching netflix with the kitty and a bowl and then if I get bit by the midnight mycology bug do those jars. If not sunrise, new eyes.
I found something that makes fee feel a little bit happier. I coated the large shiny gold cap with some Krylon to stiffen it so that I could preserve it in resin. I have tons of jewelry making supplies and I'm going to make a sweet necklace. Digging in the basement and picking up an old hobby feels great. Weed fucks me up good but sometimes I get some awesome ideas. It was actually one of the Midnight Mycology members who suggested I preserve it resin and I was like fuck. I got all that shit. It's going to be a pendant and I'm going to install some kind of pretty stone in the center. I'm also going to make the back of the cap look like art too and put something in the center.

BlackCat- those purple mystics are awesome.
I'm gonna grow Lion's Mane too! So how do I do it? Should I do the LaughingStockLion tek & use straw, or wood chips, or how many wood pellets per elbow? And how long 'til I put in in fruiting, and should I mist? and whats wispy mean? Boy- those are big! I hope mine's are that big... JK... My Pink's suck, but it's alive. I had it in the corner, away from where light comes on and in through window. Now it's where my light is at. Maybe that helps.

I just stuck some daylight bulbs one em and bought a humidifier and stuck it on the shelf above them. They were grown on sterilized wood pellets, wheat bran and a dash of coop poo and gypsum. Seems to work. I think I will be better explaining to you what I did later. I've been self medicating. I did the things and stuff and then it grew man.

Right on... I been using this thing I made with Chinese COB on-a-aluminum-plate LED's ~7000k.

....notice the south-facing window in background- that's where the light is at, man.
Edit: JK means joke, but thanks for info....

My gut told me this one's edible, just like Stropharia Subaeruginosa, which is mildly peppery in taste and quite tasty, yet is listed as inedible in various mushroom guides. After finding it listed as edible in 1 guide, I tried the Subaeruginosa. I would try the Cyanea as well, since I couldn't find any toxins listed, and low and behold, after some more thorough searching:

maybe noob question here... what book or source is this?

From what I have seen, PM do tend to have the genetics for larger and meatier shrooms. I need to do a run of them again soon.

Black Cat,
Beautiful fruits! Especially the LM. Are you fruiting all of those in tubs?
