My old trusty presto went through another seal. I've been wanting to upgrade but didn't really want to spend the money. Well... it happened.

It's the 21 quart. More than I wanted to spend on it at the ma and pa hardware store, but I'm supporting my local community right? That and I didn't want to wait on shipping. Instant gratification.

Awwwe. You guys are so sweet for worrying. No worries. I'm keeping safe. :loveheart: Sorry I got really busy this weekend. Then my friend was around with the good medical grade so I made a trade for a quarter Sunday after poker night. But yeah just been smoking up enjoying a pain free existence thinking about what's next on my agenda since.

I confess that I'm very poor at telling apart very tomentose mycelium from mold or non-mushroom mycelium. I'd say I'm a pretty decent grower and have successfully performed most known techniques. But man, I suck at differentiating myc from mold in some cases and it bothers me. A huge reason is that I immediately got into agar and learned how to store cultures so I stopped streaking MS plates like immediately. I kept the same few cultures going for years. I'm trying to revive a bunch of old ass prints/syringes so hopefully I'll start paying closer attention to what's on my plates.

When I started out I had problems with this. I like to keep the plate, I transfer from, around after the transfers for 2 reasons. 1 if mold tricked me this plate should go to spores, showing color and alerting me to the fact that I have been farming mold. The 2nd reason is you never know when you need to go back to the previous plate because you were tired and performed some bad transfers. I was recently transferring some kind of cobweb like mold, thinking it was oyster mycelium.

My only journal is from my first attempt at growing. It was a disaster. I used some shitty old tek from the early 2000's to make a multispore LC with karo. I made like 40 fucking WBS jars, with a shit brand of WBS that had straw and wood and shit in it. Ended up with 40 jars of mold and yeast.

However, my second grow I did EQ G2G transfers from MS jars. Ended up with 10 tubs, and 3 lbs dry over the course of a bunch of fucking flushes. I ran those substrates til they were tiny shriveled little wafers.

I haven't deleted my journal. It's fun to look back at sometimes. I thought I knew shit. That was my first grow from scratch, btw. I had done it with kits and shit before. Now that I think of it, I think I did manage to get the Peruvian strain to fruit from a couple jars that made it...

I did some MS expansion to tubs. I took 6 pint cakes and knocked up 18 qts. Took 6-25qt mini monos. Put 3 qt spawn to 4 qt sub and top layered and cased. Lost 3 of the 6. One put out crazy good. went like 7 flushes. 1st flush had hardly any side pins, then it shrank, I got side pins and it got hard to harvest. I Managed to work it out of the tub in a solid piece. Stuck it on the tub lid in my empty SGFC and it rocked for like 2 months. I finally just wasn't keeping it hydrated and it dried out. Impressed the fuck out of me. Put out the best looking Costa Rica I grew.

Beginner's luck is a thing, I guess.

My first EQ grow, the stems were so thick and sturdy. In my mind they looked like some kind of prehistoric/Jurassic mushroom! One of them was a first flush, dense little fucker, 7g dry, and it wasn't even very big. I wish so bad I had cloned it! I've grown EQ since then, and never got the kind of phenotypes I saw in that grow.

All you need to do is lube your seal up with some vaseline. That's why I do. I lube it right up. It feels good man.

Right now, I'm running my PC, and the gasket is covered in some thick ass aquatic grease that I use on my boat prop shaft... It works.

I got me 3 clones that came off a MS Lucy grow where all the stipes were solid. I hope it was genetic and not temp related. I got a nice yield off that fucking shoebox. I can't remember the numbers but it gave as staggered 1st flush that was close to 2 oz dry.

Do you have pics?

I need to clean up that AA+ clone in my sig. Its contaminated with mycogone. That fucking clone has put out ~9-10 oz first flush in a monotub, pretty consistently. I don't think I'm going to be able to save it though :frown:

My grows lately are much less impressive :frown:
