When you try to measure something in a mason jar by weighing an empty one and mess up on the math then you transfer the thing to plastic bags and realize something is horribly wrong and you almost left with twice as much as you wanted too.

Tell your doctor you are growing edible mushrooms and you need antibiotics to clean up a culture, he might just prescribe it to you. Bring him some nice maitake's to thank him. Good contacts go a long way.

A true confession eh? When I drive by random trees and I'm looking for mushrooms. That feel. Then OH FUCK LOOK AT THAT THING! MY GOD! *stops on side of road or pulls into some random persons driveway, then proceeds to walk up and rip a giant mushroom off the side of a tree*
Pictures for proof.

My god that was a great meal.

I walked for almost four hours in the heat and almost fell down a hill for one of those in it's freshest state yesterday. My god was it worth it. Why do these things always grow in the danger zone. Worst part is I'm terrible at steep inclines and I always forget that when I see a mushroom I want and practically slide down to get it. I mean it's not like there's an army of people racing for these since most think it's toxic but yeah. I get mushroom crazy.
I also confess we are fighting a roach problem right now upstairs from the last people that lived here. For the first time ever a baby roach fell from the stove vent and I just flicked it out of the pan cause I was cooking chicken of the woods. That's how good these things are. Miss bug phobia over here.
Also I confess sometimes I want to peel the skin off of my face after reading the facebook mushroom identification page because there are assholes there telling people that a mushroom must be active because it has blue oxidation on it. For fuck sakes. This is how people get sick or die.

I've got the end-all-be-all solution against roaches Very easy too.
Boric acid. Get it at any drug store for cheap. It's a fine powder that you have to mix fifty fifty with powdered sugar and put the mix in plastic bottle caps, spread them caps around the floor and always make sure the bugs have some water available.
They'll ingest the boric acid and next time they have a drink the boric acid will react with the water and kill em dead.
Boric acid does not have a smell to it, the bugs can't possibly create a tolerance to it and the best thing is that the adults will contaminate their nests, killing future generations.
If you have pets be sure to leave the caps out of their reach. I've dealed with 2 roach pests at home this way, there's not a better and cleaner way to kill those fuckers.

because the ones that didn't grow in the danger zone were picked before you got there.

I confess I dont have much wild cloning game. I've been climbing danger zones for a week looking for a chicken to clone. My wild h. coralloides clones are not doing so hot 3/6 went unsaveably bacterial. I'll keep working on it though.

I confess I've never ran into a situation requiring me to try antibiotics in my agar. Could it have been helpful, probably, but meh. This includes cloning wilds.

Yea. Both of them up there is redundant. Same as the general discussion thread and otd thread. Redundant. The general discussion thread is well established as well. Doesn't need to be stickied, imo.

Ha ha! I had exactly that feel yesterday. I saw a flush of big mushrooms in someone's front yard. I think (but I have not looked closely yet) that they are a big group of king boletes. It looks like someone spilled a big platter of flap jacks (pancakes) on their front lawn. I'll try to get a picture. =)
Shucks - when I got a closer look they were not boletes I sure was excited when I thought they were!
