I confess. I need a ban, but not just a week ban from the lottery. I need a whole month so I am forced to get off the laptop and cultivate some shit!

I think it's best to pour, slide into ziplocks, seal and let cool. store until inoculation then wrap after that

Looks like the same deal I got. Mine are 100x15 and vented. Only 5-6 broke in the whole case.

I pour, cool in SAB for a hour or two, then wrap like 5/10 at a time with cling wrap and put all 20 back in the plastic sleeve it came in until I use the plates a few days later. I don’t wanna have to wrap after pouring then unwrap every single petri before i need to inoc them. Never bothered with ziplocs or anything like that and I’ve never had a plate dry out or contam before usage and I’ve had them sit weeks in the open air of my bedroom without any issues

Hey. ShroomS...ly has them really cheap and the shipping is 6 bucks. Got mine there and my bags. Most of the stuff there is cheap especially for single items except the gentamycin which is literally the biggest markup I've ever seen. You can get a container of that at a vet supply that would last you a lifetime for infinately cheaper.

Vet supply? Im definatly checking into that. That stuff is so expensive, where I've seen it, I was thinking of raising  my own Micromonospora purpurea culture.

I remember someone, like 4 months back, sending me a link to some and you did NOT need a vet prescription. Just have to keep looking around.

Shroom Supply - a Shroomery sponsor caries this stuff. A small container is 20 bucks I think but will be enough for dozens of liters of media

I got some from them, and its like 5-10 milligram per 100ml of water. I have had mixed results with it honestly. Some bacteria it works on well, some not so much. I do not put less than 50mg in 500ml now, when I use it.

O yea just so you know, Gentamicin is NOT safe for humans. So this excuse may not be a good one.

I just suddenly opened an illegal pig farm in my basement and need gentamicin? Does that work? Also what gave you the idea gentamycin wasn't for people? It's actually a very important antibiotic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentamicin

I confess I feel awkward every time the exterminator comes in and I have to start up a conversation about all the different mushrooms I'm growing to distract him from the obvious. Luckily none of my cubes were in blooom. So basically I'm trying to grow agaricus species, oysters reshi and lions mane. Nothing to see here. Let's get to the basement. Oh and all that rye grain and stuff yeah. Just ignore those too. hehe BTW the issue was from the old tenants upstairs. I'm not gross.

What info I found said it was not for human use.

Edit, now I am guessing what I found was just your standard bullshit about its not safe, because it is not as clean/pure as antibiotics used for humans. Mine came with some damn warning.

It's harder to measure out animal antibiotics in containers like that. But the truth it most animal antibiotics are the same thing people use. You just have to do the research to make sure you are doing the math right as far as dosage. I have a few books on pharmacy drugs just in case the end of the world happens. Everyone will be fighting at the pharmacy while I'll be running to the vet around the corner and looting their stuff.
