I drove through Arizona this summer on a road trip to Vegas, nothing but desert, but my gf claims it's beautiful in some parts

Where did you get the salad spinner from? I bought one last night, but the holes are to big and the grain hits the outer edge with the water so it's self defeating...

SO, I have had 3 failed attempts at PC'n my agar plates. The first 2 I some how manage to cook off all the water, while attempting to vent all air from within the PC. This still baffles me as I have NEVER had it happen with agar plate, only once with QT's going 3 hrs. The 3rd time I had only gone 20 min, and my wife got off work early and I had to go get here. So now I will have to make sure it is filled with water and go a 4th time. FML!!!

dude you should not be able to run a pc dry with 1.5 qts of water if your using it correctly.
even for 90 min cycles I still have water leftover.
How much water are you using and are you letting your weight rock and hiss while cooking?
it should barely make any noise or let any steam out while at your desired psi.
I have at least 3 quarters taped to my weight to keep in the steam while maintaining the right psi.

i have to confess. i did something i have not done in years and years. i let my bulk substrate colonize 100%. let it consolidate about a week. then put a thick 1/2" casing layer on it. im trying to stall my flushes bc i am way too lazy right now. i have lost alot of motivation to do mush work. i think its this lemon diesel i been smoking, making me lazy
i did a bunch of transfers though. and they all look great. so, lesson learned. 86 degree temps for 5 days will not kill your cultures. and i had 5 different cultures going.
it did however, fry the shit out of my pan cyan grain jars. doh.

madhatter, do you use petroleum jelly and wipe it on your seal after every cycle? maybe your seal is not working properly and your releasing a ton of pressure and moisture because of it.
that sometimes wastes water in my experience. i agree with what tom said. i only do about 1.5 quarts per 90 minute cycle on 10 quart grain jars.

I have ran it many many times and not had an issue. I was mentally not with it this morning. I may have forgot to add water from previous run. It was not getting all the air out. I was not getting a steady stream of air for a very long time. Can't build pressure until you get a steady stream. 3rd time I left lid off until I was at a hard boil. Worked out better, I just had to end my session early.
With half pint jars sitting on the screen over the bottom I can't go very deep. I also raised the screen on some jar rings for 3rd run. This thing is a fucked up beast. Never came with a trivet or what ever they are called. So I have added a 12 inch pizza screen to get jars off the bottom. This crazy beast will hold 12 QT jars. Also I may run it a little harder than needed. I have had issues with pressure dropping on my gas stove, like I can not find a perfect sweet spot on the burner. Who knows, all I know is it has only happened once on a 3hr run, before today.

mad, recently my pc has been a little finicky on the sweet spot. its either too high or too low. i have to constantly change the temp as it gets closer to the cycle time to complete. generally the temperature has to be adjusted near the end. it wasn't like this before. i don't know if my glass stove is just shit now or fading.
gas stoves always proved really solid for me. but then again, that could definitely be a problem. i find when i have to constantly adjust things and the temp is too high or low, it wastes alot more water.
