Totally trying this for my next batch. Gotta be better than boiling, checking, boiling, checking...

Are they harder to dry that way?

no I load them wet after draining and a little shaking for 30+ min  but as mushboy said a salad spinner would dry them nicely. pretty fast.

With this style of grain prep you under hydrate, rinse after the boil, and load them knowing what water is on the outside of the grain will safely be absorbed while pcing.

I used to do that with oats all day and no issues but i switched to wheat cause oats do kinda suck as far as quality .. but the wheat has been a pain in my ass lately haha ive tried all kinds soaking 24 hours loading semi wet, boiling loading pretty dry, i just soaked for 48 hours and got them pretty dry and loaded in bags trying that out now

Illinois is the real HELL. This state is soooo fucked financially and lawfully. Me and the wife keep talking about moving to Oregon one day. We just owe to much on the house to move.

I grew up there. Lived in Franklin Park, Elmwood Park, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Carol Stream, Cicero, Lombard, and WAY out in Harvard. Wonder if I switched schools enough? For real though, FUCK IL!

Oregon is where my girlfriend and I are trying to end up as well. Or I'd be just as happy in Washington. Been here my whole life, used to always think I'd never wanna leave but things have changed to the state of our society that have certainly made it "bad" enough to want to leave.

One thing I dream about living there would be being able to do outdoor beds easily. They can be done here but our summers are brutal. There's several ppl in cult I envy lol

The beauty of Oregon draws me as well as the freedom. A guy I went to school with moved out there like 5 years back. He post pictures of how beautiful it is out there and it makes me want to cry for being stuck in fucking corn belt central.
